"There's going to be a next time?" Li Feng's eyes narrowed dangerously, radiating an intimidating aura.
Wu Yong shook his head fervently, his voice trembling, "No, no, no! There won't be a next time! If President Fu lets me off the hook, I'll work like a mule for you!"
Fu Hannian's icy glare seemed to slice through Wu Yong's confidence, as if he were dissecting every secret on his face.
Wu Yong lowered his head in silence for a few seconds before finally looking up, his expression one of desperation. "President Fu... if I tell you, will you spare me?"
"Are you trying to negotiate with me?" Fu Hannian asked, taking a deep drag from his cigarette. The smoke coiled around his face, creating an eerie, almost ghostly atmosphere.
Wu Yong quickly denied it, "No, no, no! President Fu, I just want you to give me a chance to live! I have family to support!"
"You have a family to support yet you spend your days in a bar and attempt to harm my wife?" Fu Hannian's temper flared as he landed a sharp kick to Wu Yong's stomach.
Wu Yong flew backward, crashing into the floor and contorting in pain.
Fu Hannian crushed the cigarette butt into the ashtray before rising to his full height, towering over Wu Yong with a fierce, commanding presence. His gaze was piercing, each look like a dagger aimed at Wu Yong.
"Speak!"
Wu Yong, overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of Fu Hannian's glare, felt a wave of dread wash over him. He knew he had no choice but to confess. If he did, perhaps Fu Hannian would spare his family from suffering repercussions.
"It was... it was Miss Fu San!"
Satisfied with this answer, Fu Hannian stepped over Wu Yong's bulky body with a dismissive air.
"Handle it."
With those two cold words, he left the private room, leaving the rest for Li Feng to take care of.

Meanwhile, Gu Yicing stood outside the Civil Affairs Bureau, the clock reading just past nine in the evening. The entrance was firmly shut, the staff having gone home for the day.
Crouching down at the door, she pulled out her phone and dialed Fu Hannian's number.
Just a short while after leaving the bar, Fu Hannian was in a foul mood when his phone began to ring incessantly from his pocket.
He stopped in his tracks to check the caller ID.
Ah, it was Gu Yicing.
Hadn't she just claimed she wanted a divorce? Was she already having second thoughts?
He had anticipated this, knowing deep down that she would come back, likely to apologize.
A smirk crept onto his lips as he answered the call. "Gu Yicing, you really are something. If you knew you would regret your earlier bravado about divorce, why even say it in the first place?"
"Regret? Why would I regret it? I called to inform you that I'm at the Civil Affairs Bureau right now, so please come over," Gu Yicing replied, her tone serious and unwavering.
Fu Hannian's playful smile vanished, replaced by an icy expression. "The Civil Affairs Bureau isn't open right now. Did you even try calling?"
"Of course I know that, but who are you, Fu Hannian? Just a sneeze from you could make the entire city of Ling tremble. Can't you just call the staff to come back and help us?"
"Not going to happen. I'm not on friendly terms with the staff at the bureau, plus the marriage certificate is with my grandfather. I couldn't retrieve it," Fu Hannian emphasized, choosing his words carefully.
It wasn't that he hadn't gone to ask; he simply hadn't been able to get it back.
"There's always the option to report it lost and apply for a replacement. Once that's done, we can proceed with the divorce. I don't mind the hassle," she suggested matter-of-factly.
"..."
Fu Hannian felt as if he might explode from frustration. She had brought up marriage in the first place, and now, without a second thought, she was throwing around the word divorce. How could this woman be so irresponsible?
Who gave her the audacity to act so high and mighty in front of him?
