Chapter 2: Training

In the end, Goku proved to be the most skilled, finding the stone with the writing on it thanks to his years of hunting experience. Krillin tried to trick Goku into giving him the stone, but when he had the idea, he noticed John Doe staring intently at him.

Krillin swallowed hard and decided to give up.

So, for dinner, Master Roshi, Launch, and Goku ate at the table, while Krillin drooled on the side, and John Doe meditated nearby, calming his mind and striving for a state of serenity.

In his previous life, John Doe hadn't watched Dragon Ball Super, but he knew about the concept of Ultra Instinct. To master Ultra Instinct, it was crucial to act before thinking, with the body's reactions faster than one's thoughts.

Goku had received some training in this aspect when he trained in the Heavenly Realm, but he didn't delve deeper into it due to the Super Saiyan transformation.

However, that brief training laid the foundation for Goku's future awakening of Ultra Instinct.

Of course, mastering Ultra Instinct wasn't as simple as training the mind to act before thinking. It required awakening the power of the gods and cultivating an incredibly high level of physical fitness.

John Doe had to take it one step at a time and couldn't take any shortcuts.

Although Master Roshi was eating dinner, he kept a close eye on his three disciples. Goku and Krillin's performances were as expected, but John Doe's progress surprised him.

The ability to act before thinking was a state that even Master Roshi struggled to achieve. He felt the need to pay close attention to John Doe, sensing that his future achievements would surpass all expectations.

The next day, at 4 a.m., Master Roshi woke John Doe, Goku, and Krillin from their sleep. They were still groggy and bleary-eyed.

Master Roshi announced, "From now on, we'll begin our formal training. First, we'll start by delivering milk."

He then led John Doe and the others to the milk crates, saying, "Each of you will carry a crate of milk and follow me as we run. I'll be in front, and John Doe, you'll be at the back, keeping an eye on the others. If anyone slacks off, let me know."

Just like in the manga, John Doe and the others began their eight-month training, following Master Roshi and carrying milk crates.

They woke up early to deliver milk, worked in the fields in the morning, did construction work in the afternoon, and engaged in swimming and other training activities throughout the day. Master Roshi kept them busy from dawn till dusk.

On the second day, Master Roshi asked them to wear twenty-kilogram turtle shells on their backs until the end of the training. However, after feeling the weight of the shell, John Doe requested a forty-kilogram shell instead.

Master Roshi looked at John Doe and nodded in agreement but warned, "Be careful. If you feel uncomfortable, switch back to the lighter shell."

Although John Doe initially struggled with the forty-kilogram shell, always falling behind in the training, his Saiyan body's potential began to awaken, and his strength rapidly increased. Soon, he reclaimed the top spot in the training.

After adapting to the forty-kilogram shell, John Doe requested a sixty-kilogram shell, while Goku and Krillin also switched to forty-kilogram shells.

Seeing his disciples' dedication, Master Roshi couldn't help but smile, wondering if he should participate in the upcoming World Martial Arts Tournament.

A month before the tournament, John Doe once again increased the weight of his shell to eighty kilograms, shocking Master Roshi.

This was partly due to John Doe's Saiyan body. Goku was still a child, and his body was still growing, but John Doe was already an adult. Even without training, an adult Saiyan's strength was impressive.

However, John Doe's Saiyan body was granted through a wish, so his strength rapidly increased until it matched the potential of his new body.

In other words, John Doe's strength was currently increasing passively, but once he reached a certain level, he would need to put in effort to continue improving.

The eight months of training passed quickly, and Master Roshi finally ended John Doe's training. He gathered John Doe, Goku, and Krillin and said, "Now you can take off your turtle shells."

Hearing Master Roshi's words, the three of them removed their shells, and three loud thuds echoed as the shells hit the ground. John Doe's eighty-kilogram shell sank several centimeters into the mud.

Goku and Krillin were excited and jumped high into the air, surprised by their own jumping ability. They cheered and ran around the island, reveling in their newfound freedom.

Master Roshi approached John Doe and asked, "Why don't you test your current strength?"

John Doe shook his head and said, "There's no need. The strength of others doesn't matter. There will be many strong opponents at the World Martial Arts Tournament, and I can test my strength there."

"I've only just taken the first step on the path of martial arts. The road ahead is long, and I believe it's best to maintain a humble attitude."

Master Roshi looked at his disciple, unable to fathom his mindset. Despite his young age, he possessed such strength yet remained humble and self-aware. This was truly rare.

As long as he maintained this attitude, Master Roshi believed that John Doe's future achievements would be limitless. This was the second time he had thought so.

As time went on, John Doe would continue to surprise Master Roshi.

The next day, Master Roshi was about to take John Doe, Goku, and Krillin to the World Martial Arts Tournament on Papaya Island.

At that moment, Launch emerged from the house with a large box in her arms. She called out to John Doe and the others, "Come here, I have a gift for you!"

John Doe opened the box and was surprised to find three sets of blue suits inside. The three of them happily put on the suits and showed them off.
