The rooster's early morning crow woke Miro from his sleep. He groggily opened his eyes, disoriented for a moment as his surroundings slowly came into focus. The dormitory room, the soft morning light filtering through the window,he was still getting used to waking up here.
He sat up on his bed, running a hand through his tousled hair, and tried to shake off the remnants of sleep. The dormitory was still quiet. Most of the other students were probably still asleep or just starting their day. Miro stretched and yawned, still having that not-quite-awake feeling. As Miro was getting ready in the bathroom, Luna was still fast asleep. Despite her usual energetic demeanor, she could sleep through almost anything. The morning light filtered through her window, but it still wasn't enough to wake her.
Miro finished up his morning routine and walked out into the dormitory again. He could have woken Luna up, but he decided to let her sleep just a bit more - she could get cranky when she was woken up too early. He sat back down on his bed, the silence of the morning filling the room. It was a strangely peaceful time of the day, when everything seemed so still and quiet. Miro took a deep breath, enjoying the tranquility, before deciding to get some reading done while he waited for Luna to wake up.
He picked up one of the textbooks he had been given, a thick tome on the history of the academy. He flipped it open to a random page and started reading, trying to distract himself from the fact that Luna was still blissfully asleep. The minutes ticked by as Miro continued reading, the rustle of the pages and his occasional sipping of water the only sounds in the room. He was half engrossed in the book, half trying not to lose patience waiting for Luna to wake up.
As Miro continued reading, a particular passage caught his eye. The chapter was detailing the various legends and myths surrounding the academy. One particular legend, the legend of the Seven Scrolls, stuck out to him.
The Seven Scrolls, also known as the Seven Keys of power, were seven scrolls said to hold vast magical power. Each scroll was rumored to hold a different power, from elemental magic to mind control. Miro read on, his curiosity piqued. The legend, according to the textbook, went that a long time ago, a powerful mage had hidden the Seven Scrolls, knowing that their power could be misused in the wrong hands. It was said that the scrolls remained hidden, with no one quite certain of their location to this day.
The book went on to detail that the scrolls were said to be hidden in different villages, far apart from each other. The mage who hid them, wanting to prevent anyone from possessing all seven scrolls at once, had spread them out, making it almost impossible task to even find them, let alone collect them. The legends and myths surrounding the scrolls had only grown over the years, with many stories and folktales being told about the powers they held. Some said the scrolls could even allow the user to control time itself, while others said they were nothing more than a legend, a myth born from the imagination of hopeful mages.
Miro read on, his mind already starting to consider the possibilities of what the scrolls could truly do, if they even existed. He was so engrossed in his reading that he barely heard the stirring and yawning coming from Luna's side of the room as she slowly woke up. "Morning," Luna's voice, still groggy from sleep, echoed in the room. Miro looked up to see her sitting up in her bed, her hair tousled from sleep, looking like a grumpy owl. Miro couldn't help but smile at her tired demeanor. "Morning, sleepyhead," he said, closing the book and setting it aside. "I was starting to wonder if you were going to sleep through the whole day.". Luna grumbled slightly, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Don't remind me," she mumbled, stifling a yawn. "I was having a great dream, and you woke me up.". "Sorry to interrupt your dream, but it's almost time for breakfast," Miro replied, a trace of amusement in his voice. "You might as well get up and get ready.".
Luna groaned dramatically, but slowly swung her legs out of bed. "Fine, fine," she mumbled, standing up and staggering slightly. "Just give me a minute to wake up properly.". "Take as long as you need," Miro said, standing up from his bed and stretching. "I'll let you get ready. Just don't take too long, or you'll end up missing breakfast.". "Yeah, yeah," Luna replied, waving a hand at him dismissively. "I won't take long. I'm not that much of a mess in the mornings." She padded over to the bathroom to freshen up, grumbling to herself about being woken up so early.
Miro chuckled to himself as he heard her grumbling. He knew that she wasn't a morning person, but he also knew that she'd be back to her usual cheerful self in no time. He decided to use the time to tidy up his own belongings, putting his books and notebooks into place.
As the bell echoed through the academy, signaling the beginning of classes, Miro and Luna made their way out of the dormitory.
The hallways were becoming more crowded as students from all sections made their way to their classes. As they walked, Luna was already in high spirits, chatting animatedly while Miro listened quietly. "I can't wait to start our classes," Luna was saying, her voice filled with excitement. "I've been looking forward to this for ages. I hope our teachers are cool and not too strict.".
Miro couldn't help but notice the change in Luna. Gone was the groggy and grumbly morning version of her, replaced by the usual energetic and cheerful Luna. He sometimes wondered how she could switch moods so quickly. As they continued walking, Miro gave her a side glance, a small amused smile playing on his lips. "You seem awfully cheerful this morning," he commented, his voice laced with a hint of amusement. "You were half asleep an hour ago, and now you're practically bouncing off the walls.".
Luna gave him a wide grin, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "I can't help it," she said, almost trotting along next to him. "It's our first day of classes! It's a big deal, or have you forgotten?." "I haven't forgotten," Miro chuckled, shaking his head at her excitement. "But I also haven't forgotten that you were mumbling and grumbling not so long ago about being woken up 'too early'.".
"Details, details," Luna waved a dismissive hand, her energy undiminished. "Everyone's grumpy when they wake up. But now I'm fully awake and ready to seize the day!". "Right..." Miro said, his tone playful. "Seize the day meaning you'll probably be bouncing off the walls all through class, disrupting the teacher and driving everyone else insane?". Luna feigned hurt, pouting a little. "Hey, I'll have you know that I can be very well-behaved when I want to be," she protested, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I bet I'll be a model student all day today."
A they entered the classroom for Anzu section, Miro and Luna took their seats next to each other. The classroom was filling up quickly with other students, all chatting and settling down. The teacher, a stern-looking woman with a sharp gaze, made her way to the front of the class and silence fell as everyone settled in their seats.
"Good morning, everyone," the teacher began, her voice firm and clear. "I'm Professor Kaito, and I'll be your instructor for this semester.". She surveyed the classroom, her eyes landing on each student briefly. Miro and Luna, both sitting together, felt themselves straightening up subconsciously, not wanting to incur the professor's wrath on their first day.
"I expect each one of you to give your best in this semester," Professor Kaito continued. "Anzu section is not for those who are half-hearted or lazy. You'll be given strict assignments and rigorous courses, and only those who are dedicated will succeed.". Miro and Luna exchanged glances, slightly intimidated.
Professor Kaito continued to go over the course outline for the semester, explaining the various topics they would be covering and the expectations for each student. Miro, while trying to pay attention, also found himself stealing glances at Luna, who was sitting next to him, trying to gauge her reaction.
"Now," the professor said, adjusting her glasses, "I'll call out your names one by one. When I call your name, please raise your hand so I can mark your attendance.". She started calling out names, one by one, the students raising their hands in response. The atmosphere in the room was thick with anticipation, each student waiting for their name to be called.
"Miro," the professor called out, and Miro raised his hand, a slight hint of tension in his stomach. He hadn't quite expected to be called so early in the roll call. "And Luna," the professor added, her eyes moving to Luna, who also raised her hand, her hand waving enthusiastically. She couldn't help but add a little flair even during roll call. The professor marked their names on her attendance list, looking mildly amused by Luna's enthusiastic wave but otherwise unamused. She continued calling out names, and Miro couldn't help but notice how the atmosphere in the room seemed to change with each name called out. Everyone was on their toes, eager to start their classes.
After a few more names, the professor had called out all the students in the class and the roll call was complete. The professor then turned to the class as a whole."Now, before we start the actual class, let me say a few words," Professor Kaito said, her voice firm and authoritative. "This is your first day as part of the academy, and it is important that you understand the principles we follow here. Discipline, dedication, and perseverance are the keys to your success in the academy. You will be challenged, and you will be tested, but it is your courage and willingness to push yourself that will make you successful.".
Miro's ears perked up as the professor began talking about the Seven Scrolls, a topic that had intrigued him in his reading earlier that day. He leaned forward slightly in his seat, listening intently.
"Now," Professor Kaito continued, "I want to talk to you about an important legend in the academy. The legend of the Seven Scrolls.".
Hm..I only know little thing about the seven scrolls.. I wonder what is it all about..
