chapter two

Katelyn later on in the sixth month of her pregnancy got a job as 911 dispatcher. This is where she met Jonathan. He was also gay just like myself but he hid it very well. He was married to a woman named Nancy Havenston. Nancy was a petty officer in the Navy. I do not know if she knew that he was gay. And this is where we find out about her past as a competitive figure skater. Jonathan was the find this out.

Jonathan said "Look at this. I found this in your locker."

This was when Katelyn got really embarrassed and said "Can you please give that back to me?"

Jonathan said "I can't believe that you were a figure skater."

Katelyn said "please just give it back to me."

Jonathan laughed and said "Has Scott seen this?"

Katelyn said "no and I prefer to keep it that way."

That was when she snatched out of his hands. Her supervisor gave her a stern look and so Katelyn went back to do her job. That night when she got home from work. Gabriella found the rest of her figure skating stuff.

Katelyn said " Hey you need to put that stuff back where you found it."

Gabriella said "but why?"

Katelyn said "because I do not want your father to find out about it."

Scott came home and said "Find out about what?"

Gabriella said "I found this stuff in the your closet. At first I thought that it was some of the stuff that belonged to our late mother. But then I discovered that Katelyn's name was written in pen on the back of some of the photos."

Scott said " oh? Kate do you have something that you are not telling me?"

Katelyn said "Oh alright laugh if you want. The truth is that I used to be a competitive figure skater."

Scott said "We are not going to laugh at you. Are we Gabriella?"

Gabriella said "No I just putting them inside our family trophy case. See I was putting them right here?"

Gabriella showed them a place that she had dedicated to Katelyn. The spot even had small gold plaque that said "To my new mother Katelyn Thompson. For doing all you could to help Faith and I with the loss of our late mother."

Scott said "Gabby this is beautiful."

Gabriella said " thanks dad. Katelyn do you like it?"

Katelyn said "I love it but next time just ask me if you can touch my old things."

Faith came down the stairs and said "I found a pretty dress."

Gabriella said "Faith take that off. It belongs to Katelyn."

Faith said "no Mommy don't I look beautiful?"

Katelyn said "yes but you always look beautiful my little Faith."

Scott said "Faith dear that goes in the family trophy case. You cannot play dress up in it."

Faith said "But Daddy."

Scott said "No buts Faith. Here let me help you take it off."

Scott then took the figure skating outfit off of Faith. He then placed it in the same place that Gabriella had put the rest of Katelyn's figure skating stuff.

Then he said "Now lets go put you in your gymnastics uniform."

Gabriella said "Yeah it is almost time for your first gymnastics practice."

Faith said "Yay I get to see my friend Amber."

Katelyn said "Amber? Oh is this a new friend from school?"

Faith said "Yes and Amber's mommy is a soldier just like daddy."

Scott said "Faith did you know that your first mother used to do gymnastics as well?"

Faith said "I know daddy but she is in heaven now."

Katelyn said "wait so the girls know things about their late mother?"

Gabriella brushed away a tear and then said "Yes but I know more than Faith does. This is because faith was only two when our mother…"

Katelyn hugged Gabriella and said "You do not have to tell me if you do not want to. I know that it hurts when you talk about your late mother."

Then they all left to take Faith to gymnastics. The next day Katelyn had a doctor's appointment. At the appointment the doctor had discovered that there was another heartbeat. This meant that Katelyn and Scott were going to be the proud parents of twins.

The doctor said "Do you want to know the sex of the other baby?"

Scott looked at Katelyn then he said "No I think that we want it to be a surprise."

Katelyn said "I agree. We will let it be a surprise for both Faith and Gabriella."

The doctor said "I would tell their sisters the same thing."

Scott looked at Katelyn again and then he smiled. He knew that this meant that Katelyn was pregnant with twin girls. That night Jessica and I threw a baby shower for Scott and Katelyn.

Katelyn said to Faith and Gabriella "We have surprise for you."

Faith said "What is it Mommy?"

Katelyn said "Cut the cakes and you will find out."

So Faith had cut the first cake. The cake had a pink filling. Faith jumped for joy. Then Gabriella had cut into the second cake. This cake also had pink filling on the inside of it.

Katelyn said "Do you both like your surprise"

Gabriella said "yes."

Faith said "yay I get a little sister.

Scott said "We also have another surprise for you."

Gabriella said "What is it?"

Katelyn said "Well we signed the papers this morning."

Gabriella said "what papers?"

Scott said "Katelyn is adopting both you and Faith."

Faith said "Yay I get a new Mommy."

Gabriella said "yay."

Then she went back inside the house.

Scott said "let me go and talk to her."

Katelyn said "no I will."

Then she went inside the house.

Gabriella said "Are you trying to replace her?"

Katelyn said "No I am not trying to replace your mother. "

Gabriella said "Then why are you adopting Faith and I?"

Katelyn said "I am trying to give you girls some symbol of a family again."

Gabriella said "But we are a family. Is it because I do not call you mom like Faith does?"

Katelyn said "No I have grown used to the fact that there is no one out there that replace your mom. I would just like to be something close to what your mom meant you."

Gabriella said "Oh. Katelyn can I tell you something?"

Katelyn said "Sure you can tell me anything."

Gabriella said "Faith is not my sister. She is actually my daughter."

Katelyn said "Than who is her real father?"

Gabriella said "I do not really talk about him because he raped me when I was 9. So that is why I tell everyone that I know that she is my sister instead of my daughter."

Katelyn said "Do not worry I will keep your secret."

Gabriella said "Are you sure?"

Katelyn said "Yes I am sure."

Gabriella cried and said "Thank you."

Katelyn said "You can trust me. Here now help me up."

So Gabriella helped Katelyn up from the stairs. As the last few months went by Katelyn did her job and she had told no one about the secret that Gabriella had told her. One day she was at work.

She said "911 what is your emergency?"

Then she felt a sharp pain.

Jonathan said "Oh my goodness are you in labor?"

Katelyn covered the mic with her hand and said "No I am fine."

Then her supervisor came over and said to Jonathan "How long has she been in labor?"

Jonathan said "I do not know."

Katelyn said "About an hour but I can do this. Tawana don't worry."

Tawana said "Jonathan call Scott."

Katelyn said "What about the emergency?"

Tawana said "Yasmine will take over."

Yasmine nodded. Then she did as she was told. Jonathan drove Katelyn to the hospital that was on base. Scott met them there.
