Chapter 28

Miranda was thrown into a damp, dimly lit dungeon beneath the Maison Mirage Manor, the guards slamming the cell door shut behind her. She rushed to the rusty iron bars, grasping them with desperate hands as she screamed at the departing guards.

"I'm innocent! I didn't do it! Please, you have to listen to me! I want to see Abel!" she pleaded, her voice echoing off the cold stone walls.

The guards ignored her cries, their footsteps fading into the darkness as they left her to her misery. Miranda slumped to the ground, her body shaking with sobs. She couldn't believe she had been framed for a crime she didn't commit.

As she sat in the darkness, Miranda's thoughts turned to Namarie. She should have been more cautious, more vigilant. Namarie had been a threat all along, and Miranda had underestimated her.
