Chapter 6: The Temple

Chapter 6: The Temple

Wang Lei cautiously stepped into the City of Death, his senses heightened as he navigated through the eerie streets. The air was thick with a sense of foreboding, but his curiosity drove him forward. In the heart of the city stood a magnificent palace, its grandeur overshadowed by the ominous atmosphere surrounding it.

As he approached, he noticed a massive temple nestled beside the palace. Two stone knights, towering and formidable, guarded its entrance with an air of intimidation.

Suddenly, the system's voice echoed in his mind:

"Warning: Two knights detected. Mission required to proceed. Failure to complete this mission will result in system deactivation."

Wang Lei's heart raced. He had no choice but to fight. Clenching his fists, he steeled himself for the impending battle.

With a swift movement, the knights sprang to life, their stone arms swinging down with deadly precision. Wang Lei barely managed to dodge the first blow, rolling to the side just in time. He could feel the ground shake beneath him as the second knight charged.

Wang Lei activated Silent Steps, his speed enhancing as he maneuvered around the knights.

"Skill Activated: Silent Steps. Agility temporarily increased."

He darted forward, aiming for the knights' weak points, but they were relentless. The first knight swung its sword, grazing his shoulder. Pain shot through him, but he pushed it aside. He had to stay focused.

As the battle wore on, Wang Lei felt his energy waning. The knights' attacks were relentless, and he found himself cornered against the temple's entrance. With a final surge of adrenaline, he leaped into the air, executing Burst Strike.

"Skill Activated: Burst Strike. Throw power tripled."

His dagger found its mark, piercing through the soft spot in the second knight's armor. But the first knight was still standing, its massive sword swinging toward him.

Wang Lei stumbled, blood dripping from his wounds. The weight of exhaustion threatened to pull him under.

Suddenly, the system's voice cut through the haze:

"Host in serious condition. Full recovery potion available. All coins will be deducted."

Wang Lei's mind raced. He had no other choice. He clicked "Yes," and the familiar sensation of the potion coursed through him.

"Potion consumed. Injuries healed. Fatigue restored."

Feeling rejuvenated, Wang Lei stood tall, ready to finish the fight. With newfound determination, he charged at the remaining knight, his dagger glinting in the dim light.

With a powerful thrust, he drove the dagger into the knight's chest, and it crumbled to the ground, lifeless.

"Mission complete. Reward: 2000 coins and a full recovery potion."

Wang Lei felt a surge of relief as he caught his breath. He didn't waste a moment; he entered the temple.

Inside, he was taken aback by the juxtaposition of ancient and modern. The temple was illuminated by a soft golden glow, but the design was sleek, almost futuristic. Yet it felt strangely devoid of life, the silence wrapping around him like a shroud.

Just then, a gentle voice filled the air, echoing softly around the chamber.

"Outsider detected."
