It was late at night as Detective Kade, made his way to the given location.
Of course, it could be a set-up, but if it were true, he could save his co-worker and bring him back to finish the case.
The guy went missing a week ago, 7 days and a few hours. Why does he only get found now? It's unimportant, rumors say that he knows the true identity of the suspect, and that means quite a lot on its own. Especially for the case.
So, with a heavy step, Kade made his way to the given location, his firearm securely in its holster.
He made his way to a dark and abandoned warehouse, the metal on the outside completely rusted from age. Kade looked up at the building, exhaling as he took around 20 steps forward, reaching the large rusty door.
He placed a reassuring hand on the handle of his firearm before pushing the door open, hearing the loud creak coming from the rusty hinges.
He stepped inside, clicking on a light switch on the side of the door, causing the entire warehouse to light up instantly. Kade turned his head, spotting a chair with his co-worker Luke, tied by rope. The rest of the warehouse is empty and spotted.
Kade's eyes widened at the sight, he stepped forward just to stop as he spotted a large figure coming up behind Luke.
"Who are you?" Kade asked, no, demanded. His red eyes narrowed at the sight of the strange man. "My name isn't important to you, detective." The man replied, chuckling darkly as he walked up next to the chair.
"You're coming with me right after I dispose of our bait." The man added, pulling out his firearm and pointing it to Luke's head.
Kade's eyes widened, his mouth dry as words struggled to form on his tongue. "Wait-" He called out, but it was too late. He closed his eyes at the sound of a loud gunshot, as well as a splatter.
Kade felt his heart pounding in his chest, his ears ringing and his head spinning. As he opened his eyes again, he saw Luke's chair and body lying on the floor, his head turned into a complete mush of blood and brains.
It made Kade feel ill, he placed a hand over his mouth, trying to hold back the puke. "You..." Kade trailed off, reaching down for his firearm.
He didn't get to even make contact with it before a pair of arms tackled him from behind. Kade stumbled to the ground, unable to breathe as he was choked by a set of large gloved hands. He could only twist and muffle protests, staring at Luke's dead, tied body on the floor before passing out fully.
"Bring him to Romano."
Those were the last words Kade heard before losing consciousness and passing out on the cold concrete floor of the warehouse.
1 hour later
Kade stirred awake, his vision blurry and expression twisted. As soon as he regained the feeling in his body, he sat up, looking around rapidly.
He found himself in an office with a large wooden desk and hard floors. He had been lying on a carpet, which was quite soft, but that's beside the point.
He woke up fully, his eyes widening as he saw a strange man standing in front of him. Kade tried to move his arms but quickly found that he was handcuffed.
Kade squirmed, his arms flexing with the struggle to move.
The man above him laughed, the sound sending a cold shiver down his spine. "Oh, so you're little Detective Kade, aren't you?" The man asked in a mocking tone, almost daring Kade to prove him otherwise.
"I'm Romano, Dante Romano."
Kade looked up at the sound of that name. Dante? The suspect? The mafia boss? This can't be good.
"What do you want?" Kade asked, regaining his composure as he glared at Dante who let out a cold laugh. "I want you to drop the case," Dante hummed, taking half of a step closer to Kade.
Kade glared at Dante, he wasn't going to give up so easily. "And if I refuse?" Kade asked, meeting Dante's cold gaze, the golden iris proved to be quite intimidating. "If you refuse... I'll have to get rid of you like this."
Once Dante's words left his mouth, he formed a gun-like shape with his hand and mockingly lined it up to his head. "Bang." He mused.
Kade felt a wave of anger at Dante's mocking act, but there was no way he could act against it, not while handcuffed. Kade collected himself and scrambled his legs close, attempting to stand up without any support.
Dante delivered a hard kick to Kade's chest, successfully knocking him down onto the carpet with a thud. Kade fell back, wiggling weakly like a worm forced under the sun.
"Watch it, I never said you could stand," Dante spoke, looking down at Kade's writhing body, not finding any pleasure in the sight. "And stop wiggling, It's pitiful."
Kade gritted his teeth, not moving anymore as he just lay there, his chest burning with pain from the earlier kick.
Dante sighed deeply, looking at him for a few seconds before turning around and waving for two of his men to take care of it.
Kade tried his hardest to squirm and protest but was ignored and shoved into a room where they locked the door, leaving him without a way to escape.
Damn it.
