2 pm on a Tuesday.
Kade was sitting on the bed of his room, staring at the plate he had been given. He wondered when he'd see Dante again and when he'd have the chance to get revenge.
He was deep in thought when a knock on the door interrupted his thinking. He looked up, watching the door open and a man came in, laying some clothes on the bed for him.
"The boss wants you to take a shower."
And with that, the damn servant left. Kade turned his head, looking at the clothes as he turned it over. It was a simple pair of boring pants and a sweater. And he thought mafia bosses had style.
But then again, his clothes were quite worn out, and he didn't smell the best.. so, he decided to go along with it.
He went into the bathroom, wondering if there were also cameras. It freaked him out a little. Surely there wouldn't be any, right?
Anyway.
He took off his clothes, stepped into the shower, and turned on the water. After finishing his shower, he walked out and put on a towel, drying himself.
He found it a little strange. Why was he in a luxurious bedroom when he was just in the way? He shook his head, trying to think of other things.
30 minutes later
The blond finished cleaning up, now wearing the godforsaken sweater and plain pants he had been given. He had waited around all day but had been unable to leave. Did this Dante guy just not want to see him?
It felt like decades before Dante finally visited Kade, although he only did to ask the very same thing.
This time, Dante was wearing a dark-grey dress shirt and some pitch-black slacks, emphasizing his large chest and broad shoulders, almost like the guy wanted to look as wide as the damn planet.
"So, Detective Kade. Have you decided to drop the case yet?" Dante asked, his voice gruff and slightly intimidating. It would've worked if Kade wasn't so damn stubborn.
Kade looked up, meeting Dante's intense gaze. "And what if I do it? Surely you won't just let me go."
Dante let out a cold laugh. "You're smart. It's fitting for a detective." He mused, stepping up closer to Kade. "Get up from the bed, you have to sign a contract."
Kade got up, the weapon neatly kept in the pocket of his pants.
Dante gestured for him to walk along, although he had other plans now that Dante had turned his back towards him.
With a swift move, Kade pulled the pocketknife out and raised his arm, before slamming it down with force, piercing the blade directly through the skin of the taller man's back, pulling it down to cut a deep wound into the skin.
Dante's eyes widened as he felt the knife pierce through his shirt and skin, drawing blood.
In an instant, he turned around as his arm shot out, grabbing Kade's wrist in an iron grip, glaring at him with eyes full of anger.
He squeezed Kade's wrist hard which made the knife fall right out of Kade's hand as he winced. "That was damn bold of you."
Kade looked up at Dante, gritting his teeth. "What? Didn't expect me to fight back?" He snapped, meeting Dante's hard gaze. "Wounds don't last, do they now? Although... death does." Replied Dante in a cold tone.
Kade's eyes widened as he listened to Dante speak, realizing that he was mocking the death of his co-worker. "You-"
But Kade didn't get to finish his sentence. Instead, he got shoved back and left behind in the room as Dante had taken the bloody knife with him.
Perhaps this act of revenge had only made things worse.
Kade sat on the floor for a few minutes, before the door slammed open again and Dante walked inside.
He wasn't wearing a shirt anymore, the only covering thing being bandages. He was holding a contract and a pen. He walked over and held the contract out in front of Kade.
"Sign," Dante demanded, holding the pen out. "If you don't, I've damn near had it with you." He added in a low growl.
Kade didn't want to sign, although he was sure he'd die if he didn't. He reached out for the pen, holding it.
He tried to take a glimpse at the contract, but Dante's glare didn't give him time.
"Can't I read it?"
"Sign. It."
...
Kade raised the pen, reluctantly signing his name. He looked up at Dante. "And what does it do?"
Dante folded the contract before meeting Kade's gaze.
"It does so that you're in debt to me."
