My heart jumped. A letter from Atlas?
But Kaleb was already shaking his head. "Relax It's probably not personal, most likely important information."
Of course. I swallowed past the sudden lump in my throat. It wasn't for me. My cheeks reddened from embarrassment.
Before I could process the sting of disappointment, Kaleb broke the seal, and scanned the contents. His expression hardened.
"What?" I asked.
He looked at me, eyes sharp. "A group of refugees are coming under Atlas's command." His expression darkened further.
"There's more," he murmured.
I leaned forward. "What's more?" He lifted his gaze to mine.
"They've been attacked." The air in the room shifted.
"They reached Avador's borders," he said slowly, "but Druke is keeping them outside."
I stood so fast the chair scraped against the floor.
Druke had what? I barely heard Kaleb calling my name as I stormed toward the door. I was done sitting still.
