Vincent exhaled a laugh, slow and deliberate. "Is that so? I thought you might be more concerned, considering the last woman we both desired ended up in your bed." His voice was light, taunting, but there was something sharp underneath. A challenge.
I clenched my jaw, pushing past the insult. "Why is she here Vincent?" My eyes flicked to Aurora. "What use does she have in a war?"
Aurora didn't speak. She only watched, her gaze steady, almost expectant, as if she was waiting for something.
Vincent smiled fully—sharp and satisfied. "Ah. I guess you haven't heard yet." He turned to the battlefield, where the scent of death and steel thickened the air. "Then I suppose it's best you find out now. Aurora has been blessed by the Moon Goddess."
I stiffened. What?
Vincent was still speaking, but his words barely registered.
