STARBORN

I knew that Vin wasn’t expecting his father to come back by the way he dropped his hands away from me as if I had burned him. He didn’t stand or make any moves to widen the distance between us though. 


It was strange to see Dr. Elliot in his own home. Ari and I went to a few of Dad’s work parties so we saw Vin’s dad a handful of times as we were growing up. We never had an actual conversation with him though. I could recall being small enough to hide behind my father’s leg as I peeked up at Dr. Elliot and offered him a shy wave. 


Obviously, since Vin and Dr. Elliot aren’t actually related, it wasn’t shocking to see them in the same room and realize that they share no physical resemblance. Vin’s hair was brown and thick while Dr. Elliot’s was a straighter dirty blonde color. Vin’s facial features were also softer, his eyes rounder and jawline more curved.
