The rest of us laughed but Ari’s face was almost red with rage as she shook her fist at Cori, who just shrugged with heavy indifference. 


“How was that cheating?” he asked calmly. He gestured at the screen where his video game avatar was currently celebrating. “You fell off the cliff, practically without my help.”


“You were distracting me,” Ari accused but one side of her lips twitched upward. “Okay, we’re playing again. I’m so taking you down this time.”


“Ari, it’s my turn!” Gem complained, already reaching a hand out for Ari’s game controller.
