Chapter 191

At first, Wendy still had the energy to glance over at Ron's situation.

But the sheer number of small fish overwhelmed her.

They all swarmed toward Wendy in droves.

Individually, they weren't particularly strong, but their overwhelming numbers made them incredibly threatening. Wendy had no time to pay attention to Ron. She had to focus entirely on the horde of small fish before her.

"Slash!"

"Slash!"

"Slash!"

One fish after another charged forward relentlessly.

Their humanoid legs moved at a bizarrely fast pace, all while their fish-like bodies flopped grotesquely.

The sight was comical yet eerie.

Their gaping mouths revealed razor-sharp teeth, their vacant, white eyes showing no emotion—a horrifying contrast to their ridiculous forms.

The blend of absurdity and horror made them resemble clowns from a nightmarish circus.

Wendy moved with incredible speed, dodging and striking simultaneously.

Invisible blades flew from her, accurately targeting the vital points of the fish.

But there were just too many of them.

For every fish she killed, another would emerge to take its place.

Wendy gritted her teeth.

"Annoying pests!"

She could feel her stamina and aura draining rapidly.

These fish were wearing her down to her limits.

Suddenly, one of the small fish appeared behind her, seemingly out of nowhere.

By the time Wendy noticed, it was too late to dodge.

Panic flashed across her face.

"Nen Bullet!"

"Boom!"

The nen bullet struck the small fish squarely, causing it to explode into a spray of flesh and blood.

Wendy quickly regained her composure.

"Thanks," she called out, glancing toward Ron.

It was then that Wendy noticed the massive fish had been completely suppressed by Ron.

Its body was covered with insect eggs, and its aura was rapidly weakening.

In front of the giant fish stood only one figure—Ron.

A massive, dark-colored jaw clashed repeatedly with the giant fish.

Wendy's pupils contracted in surprise.

When the giant fish first appeared, Wendy had made the same judgment as Dominica:

The giant fish would be handled by Dominica, while she and Ron focused on the smaller ones.

When Ron volunteered to take on the giant fish himself, Wendy had been sceptical.

After Dominica agreed, Wendy assumed that once she dealt with the smaller fish, she could assist Ron against the giant one.

But the situation developed far differently than she had anticipated.

The small fish were far more troublesome than she had imagined—numerous, disgusting, and relentless.

Before long, Wendy was pushed to her limits, her stamina and aura nearly depleted.

In her brief moment of distraction, a small fish had nearly ambushed her.

Had it succeeded, it wouldn't have been fatal, but the injury would have significantly hindered her performance in the ongoing battle.

Just as she was about to be attacked, a nen bullet saved her.

Relieved yet frustrated, Wendy couldn't help but marvel at Ron's capabilities.

She had intended to finish off the smaller fish and assist Ron, but instead, Ron had come to her rescue.

Her mind swirled with countless thoughts.

"Real combat is so much more dangerous than training."

"And these grotesque creatures created by the Nen users of Taris are far more revolting and troublesome than I anticipated. I let my guard down."

"But why is Ron so strong?"

Wendy couldn't wrap her head around it.

By classification, both she and Ron were C-rank Nen users. Yet, Ron had managed to suppress a B-rank monster entirely on his own, while she struggled against smaller enemies.

It defied logic.

However, now wasn't the time to ponder this. The battle wasn't over.

Determined not to become a burden, Wendy dashed away from the swarm of small fish, creating some distance.

She inhaled deeply.

"Eat this, and strength surges forth!"

Her aura visibly surged.

A condensed sphere of aura formed in her hands.

"Blade Storm!"

A storm erupted in the midst of the swarm, unleashing countless invisible, razor-sharp blades.

"Slash!"

"Slash!"

"Slash!"

Ron observed Wendy's move, his brows slightly raised.

"As I suspected, Wendy has a similar ability to Dominica. Dominica eats earth, while Wendy consumes air. This must be the hallmark of the Fiora Royal Family's Nen techniques—a style designed for prolonged battles."

"And they've even planned for its evolution."

"That ability... 'Reverence.'"

With her aura and stamina replenished, Wendy heightened her vigilance. This time, she gave the smaller fish no openings.

"Kill!"

A murderous aura emanated from Wendy as she attacked with renewed ferocity.

The giant fish, sensing its predicament, grew increasingly desperate.

Realizing that time was no longer on its side, it growled lowly.

"I must complete my master's task!"

Its eyes flashed red, and the surrounding small fish seemed to respond to an unspoken command.

In an instant, they abandoned Wendy and charged toward Ron.

"Die!"

Wendy's eyes widened in alarm. She intensified her attacks, hoping to draw the fish back toward her and alleviate the pressure on Ron.

But it was futile.

The smaller fish ignored her entirely, even sacrificing themselves in their frenzy to reach Ron.

"Overwhelming numbers, huh?" Ron muttered, shaking his head.

"This is just boring."

"I thought you might have more tricks up your sleeve. What a disappointment."

"If this is all you've got, then it's time to end this."

With a thought, Ron summoned his ability.

"Killer Queen."

The figure of Killer Queen materialized, handing Ron a spear before vanishing.

Akutagawa retreated to Ron's side.

"En!"
