Chapter 143: Still Want to Be a God of Destruction with Such a Weak Voice? Good Thinking, Lord Kahn!

The other Gods of Destruction smirked, clearly enjoying the show. As long as Kahn wasn't targeting them yet, they had no issue watching someone else squirm.

Vermoud trembled slightly before dropping to one knee, forcing out an explanation.

"Lord Kahn, I only indulge in entertainment after fulfilling my duties! The Eleventh Universe ranks fifth in average mortal level, and Marcarita can attest to that!"

"Oh?"

Kahn raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "You take pride in being fifth? Weren't you still on Zeno's list for potential erasure?"

Vermoud was instantly speechless.

"When you accept the role of a God of Destruction, you must be ready for criticism and consequences. If your performance were up to standard and your universe had reached the acceptable level, I would be here to praise you instead."

Vermoud: …

Is this what Kahn calls praise? He might need to reevaluate the meaning of that word. This felt more like public execution.

Kahn shot Vermoud a cold glance before continuing.

"I'm not here to single out any one of you. Any God of Destruction who is neglecting their duty or indulging in laziness—I will make it clear to them."

"Now, let's move on to Beerus, the God of Destruction of the Seventh Universe."

The moment his name was mentioned, Beerus stiffened. He had been expecting this. There was no escaping Kahn's judgment today.

"Beerus, your greatest interest as a God of Destruction is sleeping, followed by indulging in food. As for destroying planets? That depends on your mood. When you wake up in a good mood, you casually destroy a few planets. Do you ever consider whether those planets have civilizations with potential?"

"Other Gods of Destruction perform planetary destruction based on necessity and cosmic balance. You, on the other hand, just destroy whatever catches your eye!"

"Pu—!"

A few of the Gods of Destruction barely held back their laughter.

Beerus' eyelids twitched furiously. At this point, he wanted nothing more than to dig a hole and disappear from the room.

But Kahn wasn't done.

"You think the Seventh Universe's ranking is your achievement? If I hadn't personally intervened as the Grand God of Destruction, the Seventh Universe would have been ranked second to last instead of seventh!"

"That's right—behind the Ninth Universe!"

Beerus, Sidra: …

It seemed like Kahn was criticizing Beerus, but Sidra had somehow been dragged into the humiliation as well.

The hall was filled with an eerie silence. The Gods of Destruction held their breaths, wide-eyed and tense.

After a long pause, Kahn finally spoke again.

"Enough. No point in continuing to scold you. Out of the twelve universes, only the Gods of Destruction of the First, Twelfth, Fifth, and Eighth Universes are actually doing their jobs properly. The rest of you? You all have problems to varying degrees."

"In the past, nobody held you accountable, so you let yourselves go. But from today onward, whether you're a God of Destruction or a Supreme Kai, I expect you to fulfill your responsibilities."

"I'm giving you one thousand years to improve the average mortal level of your respective universes. If, after that time, any of you are still slacking off, I will remove you from your position and replace you with someone else."

"And if any of you notice another God of Destruction neglecting their duties, you may report them to me. I will generously reward those who do."

"Understood?"

"...Yes, Lord Kahn…"

The twelve Gods of Destruction exhaled in relief.

"Speak up! I can't hear you! You still want to be Gods of Destruction with voices that weak? Did you even eat today?"

Kahn's roar shook the room, making the Gods of Destruction instantly stand at attention.

"Understood, Lord Kahn!!!"

"Good. That's all for today. You may return to your universes."

With a wave of Zalama's hand, the Gods of Destruction, Supreme Kais, and Angels were instantly transported back.

Now alone with Kahn, Zalama chuckled.

"After today, I believe Lord Kahn's authority is firmly established among the Gods of Destruction."

Kahn shrugged. "Words alone won't keep them in check. Sometimes, you need a hammer to drive in the nail properly."

"A wise philosophy, Lord Kahn," Zalama responded with a knowing smile.

Kahn smirked. "Speaking of which, this palace is massive, but it feels a bit… empty with just the two of us."

"Indeed," Zalama agreed. "Would you like to consider bringing your family here?"

Kahn thought for a moment. "Vados might not mind, but Bulma and Android 18 are used to life on Earth. They might not adapt well to living here."

"That makes sense," Zalama nodded. "Then why not gather some attendants? They can manage the palace and handle maintenance while also serving you."

Kahn's eyes lit up. "Now that's a good idea."

"Do you have any plans on where to find them?" Zalama asked.

"Since there's nothing urgent these days, let's head out tomorrow and look around."

"As you wish, Lord Kahn," Zalama replied.

Then, Kahn shifted topics with a curious expression.

"By the way, Zalama, I've been meaning to ask you something."

"Please, go ahead."

"You existed before the birth of the universes, didn't you?"

Zalama's lips curled into a faint smile.

"Indeed, Lord Kahn. To be precise, I was born slightly before the Grand Priest."

Kahn raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You were born before the Grand Priest?"

"That's right," Zalama confirmed.

"So, have you been in the Dragon God Realm this entire time?" Kahn pressed.

Zalama nodded. "Yes."

"The Grand Priest has children, so why don't you?" Kahn asked bluntly.

Zalama chuckled.

"The Grand Priest cultivated the Angel Tree, from which the Angels were born, to maintain the cosmic balance. I had no such obligation, so I never created any offspring."

Kahn nodded in understanding.

Then, with a sudden shift in tone, he smirked and said,

"Zalama, how about you become my wife too?"

Zalama: …?!
