In a lavish sitting room in Country M, a woman, Sarah, was wracked with sobs. "Where is my son, Mike?" she cried.
Her husband, Mike, tried to comfort her. "We're doing everything we can, Sarah. Our assistant has been looking for him non-stop in Country X since he disappeared."
The assistant, a young man named Sam, hung his head in guilt. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Mike. I don't know where he went."
Mike's voice hardened. "You'd better find him or you're fired.
"Y-yes, sir," Sam stammered, feeling his job hang by a thread. "I'll do my best."
Mike turned back to his wife. "Sarah, don't cry. We'll get to the bottom of this. I don't want my parents to know about this either. Daniel is their favorite grandson, and I don't want to worry them."
"We'll find him, won't we?" Sarah sniffled, desperate for reassurance.
"We will.
"We'll go to Country X next week," Mike announced, his jaw set with determination.
"Really?" Sarah perked up at this, feeling a glimmer of hope. "You'll take me with you?"
"Of course. I won't rest until we have answers. And you should be there, Sarah. Daniel needs us both."
Sarah nodded, finding strength in her husband's words. "Thank you, Mike. You're right. We'll find our son."
"We will," Mike repeated, his tone resolute.
Mike embraced his wife, Sarah, their hearts beating in sync. He gently wiped away her tears, his touch tender and protective. "We're in this together, Sarah," he whispered. "No matter what."
Sarah nestled into his arms, comforted by his presence. "I love you, Mike. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Mike smiled, a hint of sadness in his eyes. "And you're the strongest woman I know. Together, we can face anything."
They held each other, drawing strength from their love.
Back in the hospital canteen
In the bustling hospital canteen, Luna picked up a container of bland porridge for Daniel and a few things for herself. She navigated through the crowd, smiling at familiar faces and holding the food close to her chest.
At the reception desk, she placed the porridge on the counter and asked to use their phone. "I
need to call my mom," she explained, her voice polite but urgent.
The receptionist, a cheerful young woman, smiled and handed Luna the phone.
"Mom, it's me," Luna said as soon as the call connected.
"Luna, how are you?" her mother asked, her voice warm and familiar. "Are you alright? Are you still at the hospital?"
"Yes, Mom. I'm okay. But Daniel, the guy I told you about, he has a memory loss," Luna said, her voice dropping to a hushed tone. "I don't want to leave him here alone, Mom. He's so confused."
Her mother's voice was tinged with concern. "Oh, Luna. That's terrible. Are the doctors doing anything to help?"
Luna sighed.
"They're doing tests, Mom," Luna continued. "But they say it might be permanent. I just can't leave him, not when he's so lost. I need you to come to the hospital. Can you bring some things for him? Like clothes and toiletries? I've been here for days, and I need to go home and take a shower."
Her mother paused, considering the situation. "Of course, Luna. I'll gather some things for him. You should go home, dear. You must be exhausted."
Luna's heart filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Mom. When you come, I will go home."
"Luna, listen," her mother said, her tone shifting. "Your phone is fixed now. I picked it up earlier today. It should be working fine."
Luna's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Really? That's great, Mom. Thank you. But I'll still need you to come to the hospital. You can bring the phone with you."
"Of course, I will. I'll be there in an hour or so. Stay strong, Luna. You're doing a good thing."
Luna smiled, feeling a bit of her burden lift.
Luna entered the hospital room quietly, her heart fluttering. Daniel was asleep on the bed, his features serene. She placed the food on the table and carefully woke him.
"You're back," Daniel said, his voice still hazy from sleep.
"Yes, I am," Luna replied, her cheeks growing warmer as she helped him sit up and arranged the bed. She placed the food on the table and asked Daniel to eat.
He gestured at the cast on his left hand, a reminder of his injury. Luna's hand flew to her forehead in embarrassment.
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry," Luna said, her voice apologetic. "I completely forgot about your hand." She sat on the edge of the bed, her cheeks still flushed as she looked at Daniel's handsome face.
"It's okay," Daniel replied, his ears turning red as Luna began feeding him. She blew on the food to cool it, and Daniel opened his mouth, allowing her to spoon-feed him.
The moment was intimate, and they both felt the weight of the unspoken attraction between them.
As Luna finished feeding Daniel, she settled into her own meal, the hospital's less-than-appetizing food suddenly tasting better. "My mom is coming," she said, her voice softer now.
Daniel's expression shifted. "Oh? She must be worried."
Luna nodded. "Yeah, she's been worried about me too. She's been like my diary, listening to everything I've been going through."
Daniel's eyes lingered on Luna's face, his curiosity piqued.
Luna brushed a stray hair away from her face, her fingers trembling slightly. "My mom is bringing some things for you, like clothes and toiletries. You'll need them while you're recovering."
Daniel nodded, his gaze never leaving Luna's face. "Thank you," he said, his voice tinged with gratitude. "You've already done so much for me. I can never repay you."
Luna shook her head, a soft smile gracing her lips.
Luna blushed at Daniel's words, but shook her head. "No need for repayment. I'm just glad I could help."
Shortly after, Luna's mother arrived, carrying a bag filled with the essentials. Luna introduced her to Daniel, and the two of them talked while Luna prepared to head home.
"Are you sure you're okay to leave him?" her mother asked, concern in her voice.
Luna nodded, her gaze flicking toward Daniel. "Yes, Mom. Daniel's in good hands. And I need to rest. I'll be back tomorrow, though."
Luna smiled warmly at Daniel, her heart full of kindness. "No repayment necessary. Just focus on getting better."
Luna's mother arrived shortly after, carrying the items Luna had requested. Luna introduced her to Daniel, and they chatted while Luna prepared to leave.
"I'll be back tomorrow," Luna assured Daniel, her eyes lingering on his face.
"I'll be here," Daniel replied, his gaze never leaving Luna's.
With one last smile, Luna headed for the door.
