Aiden and Lex left Ardan and Karissa behind after making a statement that utterly humiliated the two. 


“What the hell was that about?” Ardan snapped, his tone sharp and unwelcoming. “Why did you have to mess everything up?!” 


Karissa looked at him with a pitiful face, feigning sadness. “Are you mad at me? I was only trying to support you since Deon wasn’t around.” 


“You’ve never been like this before, Riss... stuff like this—whatever it is—you never cared. I know you. This isn’t your style…” 


“What do you know about me, Ndra?” Karissa shot him a piercing look. “I’m Mahendra’s daughter. Black... white... I understand it all. Why should I be discriminated against?” 


“I know that full well… but jumping into the field when things are still small-scale? That’s not like you at all.” 


Ardan’s eyes narrowed at her strange response. 


Karissa flashed a sweet smile in response to Ardan’s suspicious stare.
