Chapter 306: Forming the Primal Spirit
At the bottom of the dark Fire River, deep in the thick red glow, one could faintly see a figure seated in meditation.
Streams of dense lava energy surrounded the figure, continuously flowing into his body with a soft trickling sound. As the red glow grew clearer, the figure revealed himself, cloaked in armor made of flame, exuding a sense of solemn majesty.
Lin Langtian had already been at the riverbed for five days.
Over those five days, the pressure around him had become progressively stronger, almost as if the entire force of the Fire River were gathering onto his location. The unending buildup was enough to invoke a sense of fear. Even with the flame armor shielding him, the intensity caused his pores to ooze traces of blood under the crushing force.
Though it hadn't yet caused serious injury, if this continued, the pressure would eventually reach terrifying levels.
But in exchange for enduring this brutal environment, Lin Langtian's gains were substantial. With each trace of lava energy absorbed into his body, he could feel his physical strength intensifying.
The changes were profound; the energy coursing through his veins became increasingly powerful, surging through him with the force of a rushing river, filling his limbs with new levels of strength.
In just five days, the increase in his power equaled what he would typically gain from fifty days of training—a staggering improvement. But given the purity of the lava energy, this result was less surprising. A single drop of this essence contained more power than a full day of conventional cultivation.
He could sense he was close to breaking into the peak of the Six Nirvana Stage, with the Seventh Nirvana Stage within reach.
Time flowed on at the Fire River's bottom, and at some point, the red glow began to dim slightly. At the same time, Lin Langtian's body temperature was increasing, heating the river water around him to a bubbling boil.
The ripples surged, and an explosive aura emanated from within him. Waves of energy pulsed outward from his core, sending tremors throughout the depths until they gradually faded.
It was evident that his internal energy was in an unstable state—a precursor to the arrival of his next Nirvana Tribulation.
With the power of the Fire River's concentrated energy, Lin Langtian's strength was on the cusp of the Seventh Nirvana Tribulation.
Sitting cross-legged in the depths, his energy burst forth, pushing the pressure away and forming a vacuum around him.
"The Seventh Nirvana Tribulation…" he murmured, his skin reddened by the pressure, while a slight smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
For many Nirvana practitioners, the Seventh Tribulation was formidable. But thanks to his powerful physique, Lin Langtian had little fear.
Just as he was about to begin, a voice interrupted.
"Hold on, Langtian…" It was Aunt Ling's voice.
Startled, he asked, "What is it, Aunt Ling?"
She wouldn't stop him without a reason, so something significant must be involved.
Ling Auntie continued, "On this continent, the Seventh Nirvana Stage marks the point where one can attempt to form a Primal Spirit. Would you like to form yours?"
Lin Langtian was taken aback. "But… isn't that very difficult?"
Though the Seventh Nirvana Stage met the basic requirement for forming a Primal Spirit, even many at the Ninth Nirvana Stage found it challenging.
Right now, he was still at the Six Nirvana Stage, only on the verge of the Seventh, and forming a Primal Spirit would be no easy feat.
"I know," Aunt Ling replied calmly, "but I have a way to help you form one now."
Without further explanation, a dark-colored orb appeared in front of Lin Langtian, hovering in the air.
As he looked at the dark orb, he noticed a faint silhouette inside. To his surprise, the figure seemed oddly familiar.
"This is…?" he asked.
"You've guessed right," Aunt Ling confirmed. "This is the Primal Spirit of Mu Shi—the one that once inhabited you. Back then, I absorbed some of his power, but I left enough to continue gathering information about the continent. Now, however, his mind has been fully erased and his purpose exhausted.
"With the Heart Essence of Spirit Nectar that Yuan Gate gifted you, and Mu Shi's Primal Spirit, you should have a high chance—about seventy to eighty percent—of successfully forming your own Primal Spirit."
Lin Langtian's eyes lit up as he remembered that in a parallel timeline, Lin Dong had used a similar method, with the help of Xiao Diao, to successfully form his Primal Spirit.
Realizing the high success rate, he felt grateful for Aunt Ling's guidance, knowing he could have missed this opportunity had she not advised him to hold off on breaking through.
After thanking her, Lin Langtian's eagerness rose.
Seated, he extended his hand. A radiant golden light flew from the dark orb into his right palm, and with his left hand, he produced the Heart Essence of Spirit Nectar, a small golden orb.
Breathing deeply, he steadied himself, grasping Mu Shi's now-vacant Primal Spirit in one hand and the Heart Essence in the other, and closed his eyes. This time, he would form his own Primal Spirit!
