Chapter 309: Jinwu's Departure
The golden light surrounding Lin Langtian slowly retracted, along with the sharp sense of pressure it emitted, and under the gaze of countless onlookers, he descended onto a nearby platform. The moment he landed, Mo Tie and the others, who had been waiting for some time, came forward with happy expressions.
"Congratulations, Senior Brother, on successfully passing the tribulation."
Lin Langtian smiled at their congratulatory words, but as he scanned the crowd, he noticed that Jinwu was missing.
"Where is Jinwu?" he asked.
"Brother Jinwu left Yuan Gate three days ago," Mo Tie explained, "and before he left, he asked me to give you this." Mo Tie seemed as puzzled by Jinwu's sudden departure as Lin Langtian was, but he extended his hand, revealing a small glowing orb of golden light. Lin Langtian immediately recognized Jinwu's unique aura within it.
"He left so suddenly? Could it be…?" Lin Langtian murmured, his gaze growing thoughtful as he took the light from Mo Tie.
As soon as it touched his hand, the light merged into his body, and a faint image of Jinwu formed in his mind.
"Sorry, Big Brother. I meant to wait until you were finished with the Fire River Baptism, but I sensed the presence of a kin about half a month ago. This kin was once a trusted aide to my parents and traveled a great distance to find me after sensing my aura. However, while the Seven Fiend Black Golden Crows are adept at hiding, the three Grandmasters of Yuan Gate are no amateurs. To avoid causing unnecessary trouble, I decided to leave Yuan Gate with my kin. There are unresolved matters from my parents' past that I need to attend to."
Jinwu's usual gentle expression carried a trace of darkness, and his voice had a faintly cold tone.
Lin Langtian stayed silent, knowing there was much about Jinwu's past he had yet to uncover. Though Jinwu was a descendant of one of the Eight Great Beast Clans, the Seven Fiend Black Golden Crows, he had somehow ended up in the Great Yan Empire under mysterious circumstances. Without Lin Langtian's protection, Jinwu and his sister might not have survived.
Now, with his parents' old ally showing up, it was clear that Jinwu's lineage held considerable importance. His parents must have been highly regarded within their clan. But they had clearly met with trouble or were perhaps even gone, or Jinwu would never have been forced into exile as a child.
Lin Langtian's expression darkened, thinking of the unknown dangers Jinwu might face.
As if sensing his concern, Jinwu's voice echoed softly in his mind: "Big Brother, you don't need to worry about me. Until I've fully understood what happened back then and gained enough strength, I won't rush back to the clan.
"My kin told me about a place perfect for training. Next time we meet, Big Brother, I might even surprise you with how much stronger I've become.
"No matter where I go, Big Brother, you'll always be my family, my closest bond. I look forward to our next meeting."
Jinwu's voice continued, "I've left a part of my spirit with you to make sure we stay connected. If you're ever in trouble, just break it, and I'll know. Even if you face hardships in Yuan Gate, Jinwu can come and back you up. I won't lie, my uncle—who my parents entrusted to me—is quite powerful.
"Finally, Big Brother, I know you came to Yuan Gate to find something important, so I left behind a Jinwu duplicate to assist you before I left. While it doesn't have my full strength, it's just as skilled at traveling through space and scouting. As long as you avoid the three Grandmasters, it will be invaluable in helping you find what you seek within Yuan Gate."
With that, Jinwu's image slowly faded, transforming into a golden light that settled into Lin Langtian's body.
"That kid…" Lin Langtian's lips curled into a faint smile as he thought about Jinwu's mysterious background. Jinwu's parents were clearly powerful figures, or Jinwu wouldn't speak of his uncle's strength so confidently.
But the more powerful Jinwu's heritage, the more dangerous his journey would likely be.
"Don't worry, Jinwu. A brother for a day, a brother for life. No matter what challenges lie ahead, I'll always be there to back you up. When the time comes, we'll face the so-called Great Beast Clans together."
Jinwu was practically family to Lin Langtian, a bond that had only grown since their early days in the Great Yan Empire and ancient battlefields. With such a close connection, his resolve was unwavering.
Steeling himself, Lin Langtian composed his thoughts, reminding himself that this was only a temporary parting. With his current strength, he knew Jinwu would be safe for now, especially with a capable protector by his side.
For now, his priority was clear: subdue the Chaotic Demonic Flame and find Zhou Tong, along with the Spatial Ancestral Symbol!
At that moment, Lin Langtian sensed a shift in the air. Looking up, he noticed a black-gold crow flying towards him. It looked ordinary, but the glint in its black eyes hinted at something more.
"A Jinwu duplicate…" Lin Langtian muttered, his expression brightening.
This Jinwu duplicate would be a powerful aid in helping him pinpoint Zhou Tong's location. Even if he couldn't rescue Zhou Tong directly, he could potentially obtain a copy of the Spatial Ancestral Symbol.
With the Spatial Ancestral Symbol, he'd be able to wield space itself. And if he ever found himself at odds with Yuan Gate, he would be able to escape easily.
The Jinwu duplicate perched on his shoulder, rekindling memories of Jinwu in his unformed state back in the Great Yan Empire. A nostalgic smile appeared on Lin Langtian's face.
After collecting himself, he turned and nodded at Mo Tie and the others. He was just about to speak when he felt an intense, cold gaze directed at him from a distance.
Lin Langtian's brow arched as he glanced towards the source of the gaze.
Standing there was a man in dark red robes, arms crossed and expression impassive. Though silent, he exuded a formidable, intimidating aura.
"This doesn't look friendly…" Lin Langtian muttered, frowning.
