Chapter 308: The Departure of Jinwu
The golden light surrounding Lin Langtian gradually faded, and the intense aura he emitted dissipated. Under countless watchful eyes, he descended onto one of the platforms. The moment he landed, Mo Tie and the others, who had been waiting, came forward with delighted expressions.
"Congratulations, Senior Brother, on successfully overcoming the tribulation."
Hearing their congratulations, Lin Langtian smiled and glanced around, but immediately noticed that Jinwu was missing.
"Where is Jinwu?" he asked.
"Brother Jinwu left Yuan Gate three days ago. Before he left, he asked me to give you this," Mo Tie replied, his expression showing his own confusion at Jinwu's sudden departure. Extending his hand, Mo Tie revealed a trace of golden light with a lingering hint of Jinwu's unique energy.
"Left so suddenly? Could it be…" Lin Langtian murmured to himself, taking the golden light from Mo Tie. The instant it touched his hand, it merged into his body, and a hazy image of Jinwu appeared in his mind.
"Sorry, Big Brother. I wanted to wait for you to finish the Fire River Baptism, but half a month ago, I suddenly sensed one of my kin nearby. This kin was once a loyal aide to my parents and traveled a great distance to Yuan Gate after sensing my presence. But although my clan, the Seven Fiend Black Golden Crows, are skilled at concealing our presence, the three Grandmasters of Yuan Gate are not to be underestimated.
"To avoid causing any unnecessary trouble, I've decided to leave Yuan Gate with my kin. There are unresolved matters related to my parents that I need to address."
Jinwu's usually gentle expression seemed tinged with a dark resolve, and there was a cold edge to his voice.
Lin Langtian remained silent, aware that Jinwu's past held many secrets. As a descendant of one of the Eight Great Beast Clans, the Seven Fiend Black Golden Crows, Jinwu's origins were complicated, as was his fate, which had left him orphaned and adrift. Had he not encountered Lin Langtian, Jinwu and his sister might not have survived at all.
The fact that a trusted servant of Jinwu's parents had come searching suggested that Jinwu's identity likely carried significant weight within the Seven Fiend Black Golden Crows. Jinwu's parents might even have held an influential status within the clan. Yet something grave must have happened for Jinwu to end up outside the clan.
Lin Langtian's expression darkened as he considered the potential dangers of Jinwu's departure.
Sensing Lin Langtian's concern, Jinwu continued, "Big Brother, don't worry about me. Until I uncover what really happened to my parents and gain enough power, I won't recklessly return to the clan.
"My parent's aide mentioned a place perfectly suited for my training. Next time we meet, you might be shocked at my progress, Big Brother.
"Wherever I may be, Big Brother, you will always be my elder brother and my closest family. Jinwu looks forward to our next meeting."
A hint of nostalgia crept into Jinwu's voice as he added, "I left a portion of my spirit in this imprint. Should you ever face trouble, just shatter it, and I'll know right away. If you encounter hardship here in Yuan Gate, remember, Jinwu will be there to stand by you. Don't underestimate my father's trusted uncle—he's quite powerful!
"And lastly, Big Brother, I know you're here in Yuan Gate to find something important. Before leaving, I left a duplicate of myself to assist you. This Jinwu duplicate may lack my full strength, but it's just as capable of traveling through space and scouting. As long as you avoid the top three Grandmasters, it should help you locate your target within Yuan Gate."
As the words faded, Jinwu's image slowly disappeared, transforming into a streak of golden light that nestled into Lin Langtian's body.
"That kid…" Lin Langtian muttered, shaking his head. He understood the weight of Jinwu's situation; if even a servant of Jinwu's parents was formidable, then Jinwu's family must be truly powerful.
But the deeper this connection, the greater Jinwu's hardships and potential dangers.
"Rest assured, Jinwu. Once a brother, always a brother. Whatever challenges you face, I'll be there. When the time comes, I'll help you return to your clan—even if it's one of the Eight Great Beast Clans."
Lin Langtian had practically raised Jinwu, who had become his closest family since they had braved the Great Yan Empire and the ancient battlefield together. They now stood within Yuan Gate itself—a bond few others could truly understand.
Taking a steadying breath, Lin Langtian composed himself. This parting was not one of life and death, and with his current strength, he knew Jinwu would have a capable protector in his kin. As long as they avoided unusual circumstances, Jinwu should remain safe.
For now, Lin Langtian focused on his immediate goal: claiming the Chaotic Demonic Flame and locating the Spatial Ancestral Symbol and Zhou Tong.
As his thoughts aligned, he suddenly noticed something out of the corner of his eye—a black and gold crow swooping toward him. The bird appeared ordinary at first glance, but its black eyes held an extraordinary glimmer.
"A Jinwu duplicate…" Lin Langtian's eyes brightened with a grin.
This familiar Jinwu duplicate would be instrumental in scouting out where Zhou Tong was being held. If he found the right opportunity, Lin Langtian could even try to secure the Spatial Ancestral Symbol himself.
With the Spatial Ancestral Symbol, he would gain control over space itself. And if Yuan Gate ever turned against him, he could escape at will, completely unbound.
The Jinwu duplicate landed gracefully on Lin Langtian's shoulder, bringing back memories of when Jinwu had yet to fully mature, back in the Great Yan Empire. Lin Langtian's face softened with a smile at the memory.
Settling his emotions, he looked up and nodded to Mo Tie and the others. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, he felt a sharp, oppressive gaze fall on him from afar.
Lin Langtian's brow furrowed as he glanced in the direction of the stare, catching sight of a man dressed in dark red robes. The man's expression was cold, his arms crossed, exuding a powerful, daunting presence without saying a word.
"Not a friendly face…" Lin Langtian muttered, brow tightening.
