With Harry's rage came an overwhelming aura of suffocation and helplessness, as if a tide of gloom had flooded the entire classroom.
Students who were weaker compared to the professors and the headmaster, felt difficult to breathe and a sensation of dread took over them.
Despite his fury, Harry had not lost his control. Otherwise, a single spell from him would have erased Snape from the world.
But it was too soon to kill him. Harry wanted the man to suffer, wanted Snape to pay for all the crimes he had committed.
Even so, punishment for his act was inevitable.
Harry pointed his wand towards the man and a spell erupted from its tip. It was not any complex spell, just a simple banishing spell.
The spell shot toward Snape with alarming speed, too fast for potions professor to react.
But Dumbledore's instinct and senses were sharper than Snape.
A counter-spell left his wand, and it collided with the incoming spell just before it could strike Snape.
However, contrary to Dumbledore's expectations and to his shock, the two spell remained in tussle for some time but ultimately Harry's spell overpowered his with ease and continued toward its target.
The spell struck Snape squarely in the chest and he was sent flying and crashed against the wall behind him.
A sharp, sickening pain shot through his back, and he vomited up whatever he had eaten for breakfast. He gasped for air, but no sound escaped his throat. Though none of his bones had broken he felt an excruciating pain in his bones.
"Harry!" Dumbledore snapped, his wand pointed at Harry while his expression hardened with fury.
In that moment, the twinkle in Dumbledore's eyes was gone. He no longer resembled the kindly old grandfather but a fierce warrior radiating power and authority.
Meanwhile, all of Harry's anger and magical pressure had vanished and the environment in the room had returned to normal. He now appeared confused, even nervous.
"Headmaster…" he said hesitantly. "I don't know what happened… When the spell came flying at him, my body reacted instinctively."
Dumbledore lowered his wand as he observed Harry's reaction.
His frustration, however, did not ease. He was furious, but this time, not with Harry, but with Snape, whose failures and actions had been making things increasingly difficult for him.
With a weary sigh, Dumbledore declared, "We will conduct the test later in the day. Severus requires medical attention."
He strode toward Snape and, with a flick of his wand, levitated him into the air.
Just as he was about to leave the classroom, he narrowed his gaze at Harry.
"We will have a serious discussion about this, Harry," he stated firmly. "Until then, Professor Babbling, please ensure that Mr. Potter is placed in detention in an isolated classroom."
With that, Dumbledore turned and exited the classroom, Snape floating in an awkward position behind him.
Suspended in the air, Snape's mind raced with regret as he realised that he had made a mistake. Dread settled in his chest.
"Headmaster," he mumbled weakly with some hope. "I—I believe I can walk… I also do not require medical treatment."
"I know, Severus," Dumbledore replied coolly, yet he made no move to cancel the spell. Snape remained levitated.
If Snape wished, he could have freed himself from this humiliating predicament, but he dared not defy Dumbledore's wishes.
Thankfully, it was time of classes and thus no students were around to witness his awkward position.
Minutes later, Snape arrived at his destination. But it was not the hospital wing where Madam Pomfrey would treat him.
Instead, Dumbledore had brought him to an isolated classroom near his office. Snape's heart sank. He knew things were about to take a very unpleasant turn.
The moment Dumbledore stepped inside, he waved his wand, and Snape was unceremoniously hurled onto the floor like a sack.
"Severus," Dumbledore said in an eerily calm voice, "how many times must I tell you not to act over smart with me?"
"I had warned you that meddling with Harry Potter in current time could prove to be a grave mistake," he continued. "I made you witness what happened when Barty Crouch Sr. disrespected Miss Granger."
"And yet, you defy me," Dumbledore sighed, his voice laced with disappointment.
"Do my words no longer carry weight with you?" he asked as his eyes narrowed towards Snape.
"Headmaster, I—" Snape began, but before he could finish, Dumbledore flicked his wand, and a spell struck him.
It was the same banishing spell Harry had used.
Once again, Snape was sent hurtling through the air, slamming into the wall with brutal force.
This time, he felt his bones crack upon impact. Pain exploded in his chest, and before he could even process it, he vomited again—this time it was more blood than remnants of his breakfast.
"Headmaster—" Snape choked out, but another spell sent him skidding across the floor before he crashed into the right wall of the room. Agony shot through his left arm which had borne the brunt of the collision and the bone in his arm snapped.
He struggled to catch his breath, to explain himself, but before he could utter another word, he was dragged violently across the ground and slammed into the left wall. This time, his right arm bore the impact and the bone cracked.
Snape felt excruciating amount of pain shooting through his entire body and he was hardly able to control himself from screaming.
"Do my words carry weight, Severus?" Dumbledore asked in the same calm and composed manner.
"Yes… headmaster…" Snape gasped, barely able to form the words.
"Good," Dumbledore said with a smile.
"The fact that I prefer diplomacy, politics and words over power does not mean I am some weak and pathetic wizard."
His aura flared, suffocating the air around them. "Do not cross my boundaries, Severus," he warned.
"I am far more powerful than your Dark Lord Voldemort ever was."
"Yes, Headmaster…" Snape muttered hoarsely, struggling to remain conscious.
"Good," Dumbledore said, his tone returning to its usual calmness as he turned to leave.
"I trust you'll be able to walk to the hospital wing," he said as he walked towards the exit.
"After all, I spared the bones in your legs," he added with a chuckle.
With a chuckle, Dumbledore disappeared from sight.
Snape, broken and battered, collapsed onto the floor.
