The silence over the school was quickly dispersed as loud cries of sorrow erupted from the students and teachers alike. Max looked around noticing everyone in some manner of grief, worry, and horror. The number of classmates he had was 30 in total but currently, he was in the hallway with 15 plus one teacher.
Just the thought of what happened to the other 15 in the class made Max nauseous, he refused to look inside, and the others that did; began tearing up or vomiting their guts out in disgust.
'' They are all dead'' Max thought holding back his tears, slowly turning to his side to see if his friend was with him or not.
''Arghh!!...what is going on''
Max let out a sigh of relief as he saw his friend James kneeling on the floor and screaming in pain. He quickly went to him.
'' James'' Max called out, he knelt beside him secretly thanking the gods for his life.
James looked up at Max with his bright brown eyes and brown messed up hair, tears began to fall from his eyes again.
''Max...sniff…. you are ok'' He said with teary eyes. Max smiled at him trying to comfort his crying friend.
Later, they both stood on the wall by their class, silently watching as the surviving teachers grouped in one spot trying their hardest to reach the outside world to no avail.
When that option failed, a teacher tried gaining volunteers to investigate however the amount of fear caused by the attacker was so immense that no human was willing to even go close to the stairway, just the thought of it made some students burst into tears, collapse, or begin to laugh in a crazed manner.
"Do you think this was done by the green-skinned people?" James whispered after regaining his composure. Max looked down at James's small stature before answering, his voice devoid of emotion, yet concealing a tinge of fear "Yes."
Opposite Max and James, a girl was hunched over on the floor, crying about losing a friend. She overheard the conversation between Max and James and slowly raised her body to confront them. ''Green skin... what do you mean by green skin people'' She asked weakly, her eyes almost lifeless
Max and James simultaneously faced the direction of the voice.
'' Alice'' James whispered in surprise. Max only stared at her, noticing she was as short as James, her fiery amber eyes which used to shine so brightly were now as dim as the night sky and her blonde hair which was always neatly kept was now a messy swirl.
'' She always had a smile on.... I guess today is just a sad day'' Max let out a sigh with a heavy heart.
'' before all this started…'' James stopped to glance at Max, noticing he had no expression he continued '' before all this chaos started Max noticed some green-skinned people approaching the school''.
After Listening to James, her eyes slowly turned to Max, Max knew what she wanted but everything James had said was all the information he had, there was nothing new he could add to it.
'' they approached the school and that is when--'' Max abruptly paused, the suddenness of it left James and Alice feeling confused.
Max began frantically looking around, he had felt all his cells scream ''DANGER'' while speaking. He wasn't about to disregard the feeling that had already saved him once before.
'' what's wrong '' James worriedly asked. '' stay close to me'' Max said with a stern look.
At this point, Alice subconsciously moved closer to the boys, her eyes following Max's every movement. James stood almost frozen, urgently watching Max, as he felt a panic attack approaching, fearing another attack was about to start.
He turned away from Max, trying to calm his racing heart. As he did, he felt the warmth of another body next to him and turned his head to see Alice. She had unknowingly moved in very close to James. Her presence managed to soothe him; perhaps it was because she was Alice and he could sense her fear, but either way, he found himself feeling calmer.
After calming his nerves James tried to glance at Max hoping he still wasn't in his frantic manner when he noticed at the corner of his eyes something glowing.
With a forceful turn of his head, he saw the entrance of his classroom glowing, it was a radiant white glow that seemed to affect James. Without realizing it, he walked, step by step to the entrance.
Alice noticing this instinctively followed, she and James were standing at the entrance of the class, and their bodies were halfway through when James came back to his senses. Unaware of what had happened, he just stupidly smiled at Alice.
Max, still in a frantic state, quickly moved closer to the stairwell nearest to their classroom. He didn't even get close before all his senses screamed, "DANGER."
Like a swift cat, Max bolted away from the stairwell, he met up with James and Alice at the entrance of the class. With a wide eye and a pounding heart, he took one more glance at the stairwell before.
'' TAP.... TAP.... TAP''.
Everyone still in a normal mental state was engulfed in fear, their eyes glued to the stairwell. No one dared to make a sound, every student began to pray silently, and that was their only option.
''eeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizaaaaaaaaaaaaa''
A nasty groaning sound boomed from the stairwell, there was a brief moment of silence quickly followed by the rushing sounds of the teachers heading towards the stairs. They stood between the stairwell and the student. They all had a soft smile on, to assure the student of their safety but anyone with a pair of eyes could see their bodies trembling in fear.
''TAP, TAP, TAP''
The sound of feet slapping against the concrete stairs echoed closer and closer to the horror of every person in the vicinity.
Very soon the teachers who were closest to the stairs saw an unidentifiable silhouette approaching,
''if you know what is good for you, you would turn back now'' the school gym teacher yelled. He flexed his multiple bulging muscles to make himself look bigger and more intimidating.
Most students gained their confidence back once the gym teacher spoke, it helped most calm their nerves. They knew how strong he was, and thought he stood a chance against the attackers.
The gym teacher in a bold move slowly but surely moved towards the stairwell, the others looked on in worry and praise. As he neared the stairwell his bright-looking face turned into that of a pale one as he smelled an odor so nasty he immediately began to vomit. He quickly held the railings of the stairs as he was losing his balance from vomiting.
''ZAZAZAZAZAZA''. The gym teacher heard the sound of something crudely laughing, his heart sunk to his stomach as he heard the crude laughter close to his ears. He was about to turn his head when he felt a cold object pressing against his neck, immediately he felt an excruciating pain for only a few seconds before everything went bark.
The teacher next to the gym teacher saw him let go of the handrail and fall over, he was about to take a step forward to help when he saw red…. thick red blood.
'' blood'' he whispered in fear, he quickly turned to the other teachers only to see them in a mortified stupor, their eyes intensely gazing past him. He froze in fear not daring to move an inch when he felt a cold object on his neck followed by an excruciating pain and then darkness.
'' Tad!!!''.
His body felt lifeless on the floor, blood quickly gashed out of his neck soaking the teachers close to him. The student wide-eyed and shocked gently exhaled and inhaled steadily, their heart pounding tremendously screaming for them.
Max at the entrance of the class alongside Alice and James could all clearly hear their hearts pounding and see their faces distorted in horror, they looked at the headless teacher on the floor and slowly shifted their gaze to the other thing standing beside it.
A tall skinny, green-skinned humanoid creature with long pointy ears that twitched every second, bony arms and legs, black huge eyes that reflected only the dark, a lipless mouth, and razor-sharp teeth that made everyone shake in fear. In its right arm, it held a long snake sword stained with thick red blood.
As the blood dripped from the sword onto the ground, the tall creature opened its mouth to the length of its face, showing off its long discolored razor-sharp teeth, and let out a roar, sending more people into the depth of fear. More creatures came up the stairs with swords drenched in blood.
''I don't want to die '' some people screamed, launching the school into panic and pandemonium for survival.
Friends were now enemies and teachers turned into cowards as they all chaotically made their way without reason to the second stairwell further away at the back, a flash of hope appeared in their eyes as they pushed and stomped their way to their last hope.
