Cubes Everywhere

''Danger! Danger!''

''Incoming attack'', A few seconds after Max warned the others many purple cubes smashed into the house.

Debris gleefully shot out with incredible speed at the team, who swiftly avoided it with quick reflexes of their own.

Without hesitation, Max began swinging at the unassuming cubes. He swung left and right, up and down, again and again. With each swing, the cubes were completely obliterated, breaking into multiple pieces, causing Max to grin from ear to ear.

As he smashed into the cubes; he heard the powerful firing of Tom's gun, the gently yet authoritative voice of Alice dropping the cubes, and the grandiose spells of Emily burning down the enemy in a dazzling fashion.

With their increased level, fighting a bunch of cubes should have been a walk in the park yet after 20 minutes of intense battling they faced their first problem.

With every damage the cubes sustained, they only multiplied, erasing any damages while creating more enemies to be faced.

With Max's new level, it would take about 45 minutes before exhaustion claimed his body, but looking at the never-ending creation of the cubes, they needed another plan, and fast.

The house they found themselves in was now almost filled with cubes.

'' guys, we need to get out of here…now '' Max kept swinging his stick as he yelled.

Quickly like well-trained ninjas, the four escaped the house using the newly created ways the cubes made by smashing into the house.

The four immediately began to run with their full force, once they landed on the ground. They decided to look for another place; noting that the open area was more deadly than the inside.

Outside the sky was almost blanketed by many cubes, many humans had already fallen victim to the cubes' attack turning into enemy cubes themselves. The cubes had damaged many houses and other things making the outside look like a scene straight out of a war zone.

As they dashed around evading debris and rubbles, the cubes noticed the four like they had advanced eyes; an uncountable amount began to chase after the aware four.

Max glanced behind, almost cursing the gods for placing them in this situation. He wanted to use Verum Forma, but this seamlessly powerful skill had one glaring problem; the skill didn't distinguish between friend and foe.

Once activated, Max would either have to leave his friends behind or use the few seconds he had on the ability to move them, which would only lead to a waste of precious time.

'' James, Max, don't use your skill''. Max was brought out of his thoughts when Emily spoke.

'' Alice and I will handle the cubes, you two should focus on finding an intact house'' Emily added as she reduced her speed with Alice. The boys nodded as they increased their speed.

''STOP!!!'' Alice directed her skill at the many cubes chasing them. Many stopped as though they were frozen in the air but many more were still free to attack.

'' in a few seconds… they will be free'' Alice coughed as she delivered the news '' I know '' Emily replied, quickly waving her wand.

'' LENTUS!!'' her wand glowed brightly as the other cubes began to slow down.

''Alice, Emily we have a house'' James yelled from afar, standing close to a house fully intact.

The girls ran toward their hope with lightning-quick speed, they quickly got to the house and dashed inside with their limited strength.

Once in, Emily moved her wand around the house casting a spell on it '' I have made the walls of the house strong enough to withstand the attacks for a while'' She sighed as she spoke

'' It's a losing game if we keep fighting the cubes, we need a way to quickly escape'' Max let out a long-exhausted sigh once he was done; he knew the game was an endless loop and escape was the only solution.

''All we need to do is make our way to the Mother cube'' James' bright golden yellow eyes dimmed after speaking.

''…but…. It is…hovering in the sky'' Alice pointed above with a look of disbelief '' None of us… can fly'' she added glancing at the others.

Max glanced over at Emily; she was quiet, lost in her thoughts. Soon she broke her silence with a cough drawing the other's attention.

'' I have a plan'' Emily said with a smirk

'' Bang!!!, bang!!!'' the cubes began smashing into the house, making the building violently shake.

'' The spell, I am coming to use will drain everything I have…. it will make the escape possible''

'' We will protect you…now quickly cast the spell, for our fucking escape'' Max gripped his stick ready to attack the moment the cubes broke through the magically fortified walls. Alice and James joined him in his focused state.

''BANG!!!, BOOM!!!, BANG!!!'' with a deafening roar the cubes managed to break through the house's defenses, the tiny purple body manically hovered in the air, it spun as though mocking the four.

Just like a prey playing with its food; the cubes slowly moved toward the four.

''These fuckers think we are cornered'' Max giggled as he shifted his gaze onto the glowing Emily.

Emily flicked the glowing wand in her hand with such ferocity the muscle she gained over the intense training became visible with a shine ''Sit Solum Level Ut Aer'' Emily fell onto one knee after casting her spell. She trembled slightly, breathing slowly to control her weakened body.

''This was worse than I thought'' The exhaustion she felt was more than she expected, but she wasn't done '' Mens Mea Id Dirigat''

As soon as the words left her mouth 150 square feet of the house floor underneath the team's feet began to tremble slightly before like a magic carpet gently rising into the air.

'' This was her plan…. amazing '' James smiled still pointing his gun at the cubes.

The 150 square feet of the house floor was large enough for them to protect Emily from all four corners without caring about falling to the ground once they were in the air Max noted.

The cubes immediately noticed what was going on and dropped the friendly act, they lunched at the team with their deadly mission objective.

'' STOP!!!''. The cube froze in place as Alice used her skill on them, she stared at the floating floor with a hint of excitement.

Without warning the floating floor rapidly accelerated, there was no time to react as the four smashed heads first into the roof, flying out of the house with an explosive force. Max almost lost his balance; he glanced over at the others who flashed him a reassuring smile.

'' Sorry guys…my mind is preoccupied with controlling this off-brand magic carpet; you are still on bodyguard duties'' Emily sat on the floor driving the floating floor to their final destination.

The floating floor moved with incredible speed in the air yet the four were not affected by the fast breeze they felt on their bodies; they stood just like they would on the ground below.

Max enjoyed every moment his body felt the warm breeze, he wished it would last forever but quickly regained his focus, coming out of his daydream with a frown.

'' When will this end'' Once again Max began to swing his stick like he was a professional baseball player as the pesky cubes noticed and attacked them.

Over and over again Max swung his stick, his muscles bursting with power each time the cubes multiplied while James shot the endless cubes launching themselves at him.

Using invisibility and teleportation James was almost invincible, easily destroying many cubes while confusing them in the process.

Alice with her skill made it easy for Max and James to give it their all but she was running out of time, she couldn't keep using her ability forever.

Just 3 minutes in, the cubes had multiplied to an ungodly level, they now hovered over the four like a deadly cluster of giant bees.

''Is now or never!'' Max yelled looking at Emily. He stopped swinging putting all his hope in her.

Emily just laughed as she stood from the floor standing on her feet with a slightly shaking body '' we made it'' she proclaimed, pointing at the giant mother cube before them.

A collective sigh escaped Max, James, and Alice, their colorful eyes gained their vitality once more, and their faces displayed their joyous emotion.

The cluster of cubes following them made a gentle and well-coordinated dive back to the surface once the team bumped into the ginormous mother cube.

''Wherever I look, I see the cube… it's so huge'' Max thought, he felt a sudden urge to reach out and touch the mother cube, only restraining himself at the last minute.

''Ting! Ting!''

Immediately they read the message they were given little time to digest it, when an intense blinding light engulfed their vicinity, they instantly shut their eyes from the sudden assault.

Max opened his eyes when the light intensity was gone only to find himself back in his bland room.
