Chapter 64: Falling Asleep in the Car

Kate followed Ivy's gaze and looked down, her eyelid twitching slightly as she withdrew her hand from Ivy's knee.

But Ivy didn't seem to notice the hand; instead, she remained absorbed in her own dilemma and said to Kate, "I feel like you're just brushing me off."

"Am I?" Kate adjusted her posture, folding both hands neatly on her own knees.

"You haven't really answered me. Does your mother prefer lively people or quiet ones?" Ivy's thoughts were unusually clear. "You keep agreeing with whatever I say. If that's not brushing me off, what is?"

Kate was silent for a moment before saying, "My mother has met you."

"What?" Ivy was startled, then recalled that video call earlier. "A video call doesn't count."

Kate said, "She saw you in person during your competition."

"Really? You're not lying to me, are you?" Ivy's expression clearly showed her disbelief.
