"What progress are you talking about? There's nothing between us!" Ivy was caught off guard by the sudden question, entirely unprepared with an answer.
Wasn't Sister Sophia just discussing her own affairs? How did the topic suddenly shift to her and Kate Stone?
"I just poured my heart out to you, and you won't share with me?" Sophia Snow clung to Ivy's arm, playfully coaxing, "Come on, dear sister, tell me—since you both stayed together last night, wasn't there any breakthrough?"
Ivy, usually the one to act coy with others, found it hard to handle someone who matched her own tactics. She could only reply, "We live together here every day too; truly, there's nothing going on."
If there were something, she wouldn't hide it; she'd announce it to the world before anyone even asked.
Sophia gazed into Ivy's eyes for a long time; she didn't seem to be lying. "Did I misjudge you?"
"Why would you say that?" Ivy suddenly felt underestimated.
