Kate gently patted Ivy's back and softly asked, "What frightened you?"
Ivy felt too embarrassed to admit that being alone had allowed her imagination to scare her senseless; telling anyone would be quite humiliating.
"I'm a bit hungry," she quickly changed the subject.
Accustomed to Ivy's abrupt shifts, Kate inquired, "What would you like to eat?"
"I want to eat you."
Ivy blurted out the three words before she had time to think.
Kate strove to control her expression but still appeared somewhat stiff.
She began to ponder whether bringing Ivy home today had been the right decision.
After a few seconds, she concluded it was absolutely correct. If Ivy hadn't persistently thrown herself at her, she didn't know how much longer she could have restrained herself.
Such a test would be too great.
