Time passed quickly, and before he knew it, night had fallen.
After spending the entire day gathering information, Shin returned to the hotel where he was staying. By now, he had formulated a few theories about the nature of this world.
"Even if this isn't a movie universe, it's definitely not the main comic universe. The biggest proof is... there are too few superheroes."
The way Western comics and Japanese manga are created differs significantly. In manga, the story typically follows a single author's vision, while in Western comics, multiple writers and artists contribute to different arcs, leading to frequent retcons and reboots.
Each major superhero in Western comics has undergone multiple rewrites, making the settings inconsistent, and power scaling often chaotic. If this were the main comic universe, there would be at least hundreds of superheroes active at any given time.
However, in film and TV adaptations, due to time constraints and production costs, only a handful of heroes usually appear. This was an important clue.
"This world probably isn't from the comics... but it might not be a pure movie universe either. Even the movie universe has its own multiverse, like those different versions of Spider-Man."
While the danger level here might be lower than in the comics, Shin still had no intention of getting involved in conflicts beyond his level. Moreover, Western comics didn't have a systematic method of cultivating superpowers—abilities were typically acquired by accident, through technology, or via alien lineage.
"So should my focus be on finding powerful artifacts and bloodline enhancements? Or maybe I should search for advanced computing technology instead?"
Just as he was contemplating his next move, a loud explosion suddenly shook the city.
Shin's eyes widened as he heard the deafening blast.
"What was that?! This is a city full of superhumans—the audacity to trigger a bomb here!"
For something to make this much noise, it had to be something serious.
"Damn... don't tell me they just created Doomsday today?!"
Shin cursed under his breath. Without hesitation, he activated his Kamui ability. This technique allowed him to phase out of reality, making him intangible and impervious to physical and energy-based attacks—his ultimate survival tool.
With Kamui activated, he darted toward the explosion's epicenter.
The streets were already in chaos. He had barely crossed two blocks before a red light flashed past him. An instant later, an entire row of buildings was completely obliterated.
Shin turned his head and saw the devastation left in its wake. Several structures had been melted clean through before collapsing into dust.
Then, in a blur of motion, a dark shadow streaked across the cityscape. The force of its movement shattered everything in its path, leaving behind a massive trench in the concrete.
"What the hell?!" Shin barely had time to react before another shockwave ripped through the street. It felt like the entire city was collapsing.
Finally, after a flurry of movement, the two figures clashed mid-air. It was only then that Shin recognized them:
Superman... and Doomsday.
His stomach sank.
Shin froze, completely overwhelmed by the sheer scale of destruction unfolding before him.
"What the hell is this?! I can't even track their movements!"
Even with his Rinnegan, he could barely make out their silhouettes—just streaks of black and red flashing across the city. The sheer speed at which they moved made their battle incomprehensible.
The fight between Superman and Doomsday was far beyond anything a normal human—or even most superhumans—could hope to interfere with.
"How the hell does Batman even contribute to fights like these?!"
Forget strategy or martial arts—just the shockwaves from their blows were enough to flatten buildings. The very act of being near this battle could be lethal to anyone without Superman-tier durability.
"Not to mention, Doomsday is an absolute nightmare..."
The creature couldn't be killed, couldn't be reasoned with, and only grew stronger every time it resurrected. Even Superman himself was barely keeping up.
The truth was, many people underestimated Superman's real strength. His raw speed and reflexes were what made him so terrifying.
"Fighting these guys is like being stuck in bullet-time permanently. Even if I mastered a hundred martial arts, my punches would take ten minutes to land while theirs would take a millisecond. There's literally no way to win in direct combat."
Shin took a deep breath and backed away.
"Yeah, no. I am NOT getting involved in this."
He wasn't a fool.
There was nothing he could do here except die faster. Even with all his abilities, one mistake would get him vaporized.
"Time to reconsider my stay in Metropolis..."
As Superman and Doomsday clashed once more, sending yet another catastrophic shockwave through the city, Shin decided he had seen enough.
