CHAPTER 20- TARGET

Sir Boan led them to another room on the left of his office. There were all sorts of maps and other materials making it look like a war planning room." Ever since that tragic incident , I've assigned men on the lookout for the tauricus. They got a few sightings of the creature at different places and managed to place a tracker on it , but it didn't come easy. We sustained quite a lot of casualties.

Here is the location. Please, fi d this tauricus and end it. If it's being controlled, track down the controller and find out why he or she is doing this. Then you bring the individual here and we will see that the person suffers dearly for their transgressions" Sir Boan ended and handed the location over to Kian ." Dont worry, we will do so" Kian assured him .

" Just remember that if you need any assistance whatsoever, I'll procure help immediately. So don't hesitate to inform me if you face anything" Sir Boan said." Thank you so much Sir Boan " Lexi said and gave him a light smile." Please your highness, call me Zorin" Lexi simply nodded and henled them out of the building.

He saw them off with some information." Beware Timestellar, that creature has power like no other I've seen before, but I know without a doubt that it is no where near your strength. So please be careful at least. It can create illusions that can distort your brain cells.

And I know only you are powerful enough to stop it "

....Within a few minutes, they were out of the town and back on abroad leading to the location of the tauricus. They drove for about three hours , Lexi just admiring the side view although she felt a bit anxious of what they would find. Upon nearing the location, Kian slowed down a bit . They reached the mouth of a forest... a densely icy forest.

" We'll continue on foot from here" Kian informed her and got off . He walked to her side and held her shoulders quite firmly as his electric blue eyes pierced her grey ones." Lexi, this is where the actual mission begins. And its going to be dangerous. You know how to use every gadget on your body . Dont hesitate to use them if need be.

Don't panic if anything happens, I'll protect you. But....nothing is guaranteed so in case anything and I mean anything Lexi, should happen and I give you the signal, press this button on your arm " he said touching the device strapped to her arm." This will immediately take you back to the mansion and Lucris wilkbyake over from there"

" But you know I'll never do that right Kian. I can't leave you " " Listen to me Lexi " Kian said sternly, his grip tightening, causing fear to flash across her eyes. He loosened his grip seeing her reaction and apologized." I...I'm sorry Lexi. I just want you to be safe and not get caught up in any of this dangerous stuff" he said and placed a kiss on her forehead as his words seemed to have scared her.

He pulled away and started to walk away when he felt her suddenly grab his arm and yanl him towards herself. He allowed himself to be yanked forward , expecting her to hug him and tell him how scared she probably was but on the contrary, her lips collided with his. He was a bit surprised at her action.

She was the one to pull away first and Kian wasn't having it as his face followed hers that was retreating. But she placed her small palm on his face and pushes him back . He furrowed his brows, confused at what she was doing, when she held his face in both of her hands " I love you. That's why we're in this together, as a team" she said and before he could give a response, she got down and dragged him into the forest.

They walked hand in hand with severe caution as they moved ahead.Following the tracker, they reached a cave and that's where the blinking dot on the tracker alerted them that their target was within that cave." It's in there then" Lexi said but her voice came out quite hoarse and that's where she realised how serious the issue was. They were about to face a killer machine.

" Here is the plan" Kian started without delay, turning towards her." Once we identify it in the cave, it's probably going to fight us there if it's corrupted. Same if someone is controlling it but that would be about easier because I can take out the one controlling he creature and end this. For now all you have to do is watch and learn. If anything happens, remember to teleport yourself . Looking at the structure of the cave, it could crumble if there's too much destruction unless It's only deceiving us from the outside. But we'll know pretty soon" Kian ended. Lexi nodded st hid plan sand they proceeded.

Inside the cave was dark and humid. Kian used his magic to light the wayand they went deeper in to the cave." It's close but it's not moving, which could only mean it's inactive, asleep or....waiting for us " Lexi said with a gulp. " The tauricus doesn't sleep Lexi. It's machine " Kian told her and they moved on until they came to the end of the long path . It led to an open space and they immediately spotted the creature.

It stood upright, strapped to some sort of trolley. " So it's being controlled. That's solves part of the problem" Kian said in a low voice." Stay here " he instructed and left her at a corner at the end of the path. Kian was cautious as he neared the tauricus. He searched the area but found no sign of the one who was controlling it.

His hands then lit with fire balls , ready to set the machine ablaze to make it useless for the controller. But the moment he hit it with the first baĺl, the machine vanished, like a mirage. Kian's eyes widened at the sudden turn of events and immediately turned to where Lexi was, now knowing it was a trap. But he immediately went stiff at the bone chilling scream he heard coming from where Lexi was suppose to be.
