A PRESENTER BEGAN THE EVENT:
— Citizens of New York! It is very gratifying to see you all united, to see a people who do not let circumstances shake them. I would like to invite you to participate now in this important debate, where we will discuss the facts surrounding our country and our future. Soon we will have President Kenan Vaine here with us. To open the discussion, I invite Mayor Thomas Reinalds to the stage...
The people, who had been listening in silence to the speaker of the event, gave Mayor Thomas a loud ovation, as he came up to the microphone.
— I share the same sentiment as my friend... — said the mayor — today, more than ever, I feel a great deal of pride in being the mayor of this city. Seeing you united reinforces our feeling of love for the nation that we fought so hard to build. May all of you, like me, keep this same thought: this nightmare will be just another victory that we will tell our children and grandchildren about one day. We are here today to discuss our future and we will not leave here without it in our hearts...
Once again, a loud round of applause warmly responded to Mayor Reinalds' speech. The presenter invited Governor Rogers to take the stage this time.
Also warmly received, he gave his brief introductory speech:
— Good afternoon, American citizens. We are here to show you how important you are as part of this nation and to encourage you to move forward. Do not fear, for if fear had been heard in the beginning, our people would not be independent today; if doubt had been given a place alongside our grandparents, our nation would not have achieved such greatness. Just go forward with us, with courage, and this battle will soon be over...
At the end of the presentation, the governor sat down in his place on the stage and the presenter continued:
— President Kenan Vaine is on his way and will be arriving in a few minutes for the debate. Let us begin our conversation while we await your arrival...
The debate began with the memory of the first attack, which took place exactly at that place, and also of the second, a few days before the event. The huge screen displayed a tribute to the victims of the terrorist acts and the politicians present also offered their condolences.
After the ceremony, the debate began, where they discussed the situation of Islam's lack of control and the threat it posed to Western culture.
