The people, who had been listening in silence to the speaker of the event, gave Mayor Thomas a loud ovation, as he came up to the microphone.

— I share the same sentiment as my friend... — said the mayor — today, more than ever, I feel a great deal of pride in being the mayor of this city. Once again, a loud round of applause warmly responded to Mayor Reinalds' speech. The presenter invited Governor Rogers to take the stage this time.
