~{GM_Orario}~

Captain of the Ganesha Family? My blood runs cold. Rumor has it she's a Level 5 adventurer. Oh, god… I'm in serious trouble here.

"W-what are you talking about? I'm a… a law-abiding citizen," I stammer, though even I don't believe it.

Her eyes narrow with faint amusement. "Funny, I heard quite a commotion in the casino just before you decided to make your grand exit. And then…" She gestures with her spear toward the sky above us.

I follow her gaze to the faint, winding trail of smoke in the sky, and I can't help but slap my forehead. The jetpack exhaust, clear as day, leads straight back to the casino. She must have spotted it immediately and tracked me here.

I should've known the smoke trail was going to cause trouble sooner or later. But the AI here is sophisticated enough to track even something like that?

I need to reevaluate the AI's capabilities. If they're able to detect something as subtle as a jetpack trail, I have to assume they're leagues beyond the usual in terms of tracking and combat.

"So, shall we do this the easy way?" Shakti's voice snaps me back to reality, her spear gleaming in the dim light. "Or the hard way Instead?"

I don't respond, keeping my face neutral.

She lets out a soft chuckle. "You know, I've been interested in you for a while now. Reports say you have a strange 'magic item' that lets you soar through the skies without any visible enchantments. And as if that weren't enough, you're armed with weaponry powerful enough to eliminate Level 3 adventurers in a blink." She tilts her head slightly, studying me with a hint of intrigue.

Magic item? Is that what she thinks my gear is? Well, in a world where everyone fights with swords, spears, and spells, my weapons must look pretty alien. I guess I shouldn't be surprised she'd classify my tech as magic.

I smirk, deciding I'll let my gear speak for itself.

With a quick thought, I summon my M16, the cold, familiar weight of it settling in my hands.

And then I let loose.

*RATATATATA*

I unleash a relentless hail of bullets, firing for a full fifteen seconds before the clip finally clicks empty. Lowering the gun, I squint through the smoke, trying to see if it did any damage.

As the dust settles, a figure begins to take shape. Shakti twirls her spear, dispersing the last remnants of smoke. She stands there, completely unharmed.

"So, the rumors were true," she says, her eyes gleaming with a predatory interest. "You must be a Level 3… no, maybe even a Level 2 archer. And that weapon it's your secret to taking down high-level adventurers, isn't it?"

She is unharmed? No wait...

I can see several clouds of smoke coming out from her weapon, did she pary al the attack even though the bullet round was supposed to be extremely fast?!

She's a monster. A monster among monsters. And she's only Level 5…

I grit my teeth, calculating my odds. I don't stand a chance against her like this, not without some kind of plan. I'll have to escape by any mean nessary.

"Now.. drop down the bow-"

"It's a gun dammit!!"

"That does not matter," she declares sternly, her posture unwavering. In one fluid motion, she leaps down from the towering building above, landing gracefully in front of me. "You are under arrest."

With each step she took, closing the distance between us, my heart pounded furiously in my chest. Fear gripped me tightly, sending shivers down my spine as adrenaline surged through my veins. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, trickling down my face as I grew increasingly pale,

Regular guns won't cut it, and I have a sinking feeling that even a minigun wouldn't do any damage. Her durability is clearly something not to mess with.

I didn't want to use these considering the potential collateral damage but it seems I have no choice.

I glance left and right, scanning for any lifeforms using the HUD and X-ray vision. Several civilians appear nearby, but fortunately, they are far enough from the imminent blast site. Relief washes over me as I realize they are not in immediate danger.

Reequipping the jetpack, I refocus on the Azure girl. She assumes a stance, poised and ready to dash at me. Her eyes lock onto mine, filled with a steely determination. The tension between us is palpable, the air thick with anticipation.

"You won't get away," she calls out, her voice a mix of defiance and confidence.

I tighten my grip on the jetpack controls, feeling the cool metal against my palms. "I don't intend to," I reply, my tone matching her resolve. "But you don't have to do this. We can still talk our way out of this"

"The only thing we are going to talk is the interrogation room."

"...Fine. You leave me with no choice…" I pull out a familiar weapon and rest it on my shoulder, aiming it squarely at her. "But I hope you have enough to pay for the collateral damage that's about to happen."

Her eyes widen in confusion as she takes in the weapon I materialize from thin air call the Fat Man.

"And I hope you survive!" I shout, squeezing the trigger.

A deafening roar erupts as I fire the weapon, the projectile soaring through the air. In an instant, a massive explosion engulfs the ground in front of her. The blast sends shockwaves rippling through the air, and I'm momentarily blinded by the intense light and heat.

Before I can regain my vision, I feel my body being propelled upward, spinning wildly as the strong wind current carries me into the sky.

As I glide through the open expanse above, I catch a fleeting glimpse of the vast sky, stretching endlessly in every direction. Below me, the city of Orario sprawls out like a patchwork quilt, its streets winding between the buildings, bustling with life.

Wow, I think to myself, momentarily awestruck. I didn't know the city could look so beautiful from up here, bathed in the soft glow of the sun filtering through the clouds.

But my moment of wonder is short-lived. I suddenly realize that I'm beginning to fall back toward the ground. Panic sets in as I try to slow my descent with the jetpack, only to discover—horror dawning on me—that it's missing.

Each second I begin to feel pale and as I slowly reach even closer ground I begin to embrace my fate and prepare myself for the inevitable.

Ahh, this is going to hurt, With all my might, I focus on the rooftop, willing myself to maneuver toward it. I brace for impact, hoping against hope that I can make it without breaking something vital.

...

When I finally regain consciousness, I'm greeted by a blaring warning sign flashing in front of my face.

[Warning!Shield at Critical!Warning!]

"I know, I know!" I groan, swatting away the alert as I struggle to clear the rubble that covers my body.

As I push myself up, I realize that I've landed in a massive crater, the ground around me scorched and broken from the force of my fall. My head is pounding, and I can feel the ache in my bones, but at least I'm alive.

I check my HUD for any updates on my health status, grimacing at the sight of my depleted shield.

[Health 1000, Shield 00.004]

Damn... that was way too close...

I can't believe I survived that impact, but then again, maybe I'm just lucky the shield barely held on.

I let out a sigh of relief, grateful that I don't have to feel the pain. At least my shield didn't completely fail, or I'd be in a world of hurt right now.

As I scan the area, I notice a few figures in the distance, likely members of the Ganesha Family, moving toward my location. They must have heard the explosion.

Time to go! I think, quickly gathering my bearings and sprinting toward the edge of the crater, searching for a way to escape before they close in on me.

I Keep walking for some time that I did not notice a dark robe skeleton watching in the dark.

Meanwhile, back at the blast site, chaos reigns as the Ganesha Family scours the rubble, desperately searching for any sign of their captain. The air is thick with smoke and the acrid scent of burnt debris. They call out her name, their voices strained with urgency, but the only response is the crackling of flames and the distant wail of sirens.

Shakti Varma lies on the ground, her azure hair singed and blackened, the once-vibrant color now dull and charred. Her skin is scorched and blistered from the intense heat of the explosion, and the pain radiates through her body with each labored breath.

"Captain!" one of her subordinates cries, rushing to her side, shock etched across his face. "What happened?!"

But Shakti can barely respond, the agony consumes her. She screams, the sound raw and heart-wrenching, echoing off the walls of the surrounding buildings. The Ganesha Family members watch in horror as she writhes on the ground, struggling against the pain that lances through her like a thousand daggers.

"Get her to a healer!" another member yells, urgency lacing his voice. "Now!"

As they work to lift her carefully from the ground, her screams fill the night air, a haunting sound that sends shivers down their spines. The Ganesha Family, known for their strength and resolve, feels a wave of helplessness wash over them. This is not just a loss of a captain, it's the proof of how stronger their enemy was to able to injure a level 5 adventure this badly.

"We need to find that bastard who did this!" Ilta Farna said. "He can't get away!"

"Don't push yourself, vice-captain," one of the members urges, holding her steady as they make their way back to the safety of their base. "We'll find him. We won't let him escape."

That night while the people Orario were sleeping a single blinding light take the attention of everyone from the city.

Within moments, the city stirred. Those who had been sleeping woke in alarm, their hearts pounding with unease. Those who were awake stopped in their tracks, frozen as they turned toward the source of the brilliance. From every corner of Orario, eyes were drawn to a singular point—where the bright light had erupted.

As the light began to fade, it revealed its origin: a massive, glowing mushroom cloud towering over the cityscape. It rose ominously into the night, its form unnatural, its presence suffocating.

Then came the shockwave. It swept through the streets like an unstoppable tide, shattering windows, splintering doors, and sending people sprawling. The air itself seemed to scream, vibrating with an unrelenting force that left ears ringing and hearts racing.

For a brief, terrible moment, silence followed. The people of Orario stared in stunned disbelief, their minds struggling to comprehend what had just unfolded. Then, the whispers began, spreading like wildfire:

"What was that?"

"Is it an attack?"

"Did a monster do this?"

But no one had answers.

That day marked a turning point, a night unlike any other. The day Orario bore witness to something it had never seen before—a force so powerful, so alien, it left the city forever changed.

A nuclear bomb.
