Harper’s POV
When my consciousness floated back to me, I had no idea how much time had passed.
“Water…” I murmured, and a moment later, something warm pressed a glass to my lips.
I blinked open my eyes to see marks on my wrist where I’d been injected, and a man with a grim expression sitting beside the bed.
“What happened?” I weakly tugged on his sleeve with my fingers.
“You’d better tell me what’s going on,” Marco demanded, his voice dark.
Marco’s POV
My body acted before my brain could catch up. I grabbed some rope, my instincts kicking in as soon as I saw the familiar symptoms in Harper.
I glanced back at the screen, and I realized Harper had been keeping something from me. Her body was convulsing violently, and I feared she might bite her tongue, so I shoved my hand into her mouth to protect her.
Barely containing my fury, I injected her with medication after she passed out. David had already received my message, sending me a confirmation via email to check on Harper.
