"Devil Fruit? Is it Zoan?"
It must be a Zoan that would make Kaido go all out to find Simon and chase him across the world. It's not just any Zoan.
"That's right, it's an ancient Zoan, but I don't know exactly what kind of ability it has."
"But I know from the pursuers that Kaido really wants that Devil Fruit."
"What about the fruit? Where is it now?"
Cavendish hurriedly asked.
An ancient Zoan Devil Fruit is incredibly valuable, and its ability is top-notch.
"It's not in my hands. I just got a treasure map, which shows the location of the treasure."
"It also mentions that, besides gold and silver treasures, there's an ancient Devil Fruit."
"I don't know how Kaido got wind of it and ambushed us halfway."
"As a result, as you know, the Shinigami Pirates suffered a disastrous defeat, with all their members killed, and I was the only one who survived."
Simon shook his head, a hint of bitterness on his lips.
If he had known that this Devil Fruit would lead to the downfall of the Shinigami Pirates, he would have just handed over the treasure map.
After all, it's just a map—whether the treasure even exists is a whole other story.
"Hey, hey, hey, there must be a mole on board."
Suddenly, Guy let out a shrill laugh, a bit too gleeful.
"Impossible. How could there be a traitor on my ship?"
Simon's face changed drastically, and he immediately snapped at Guy.
The movement was too sudden and almost tore his wound, making him clutch his chest involuntarily.
Simon's crew members were all dead, and he didn't want them to be insulted even after their death.
"Heh heh heh, how do you explain that Kaido knew about the treasure map?" Guy taunted.
Simon was left speechless.
As Guy pointed out, the existence of the treasure map was known only to the Shinigami Pirates.
And only the top officers knew about it—ordinary crew members had no idea.
This news was supposed to be a closely guarded secret, yet somehow Kaido knew, and they ambushed the island marked on the treasure map, waiting for the Shinigami Pirates to walk right into the trap.
There was no other explanation for it—there had to be a traitor.
"But my crew is all dead, and I'm the only one left. If there's a traitor, who could it be?" Simon asked, still unwilling to believe that one of his own had betrayed him.
"Heh heh, what's so strange about this? Of course, the traitor was killed by Kaido's men," Guy replied with a mocking smile.
"Pirates betray each other all the time, especially those like us."
"The traitor was probably squeezed dry of any remaining use, and Kaido didn't care about his life."
"This is the cruelty of the Pirate World, hehehe!"
Guy turned into gas and floated in the air, laughing maniacally.
"Oh? All pirates betray? Who told you that?"
"You seem to have a lot of experience in betrayal," Lucifer said, smiling wryly.
Guy's heart skipped a beat. He quickly fell back onto the deck and laughed awkwardly.
"How could there be? Captain Lucifer, you've misunderstood! I would never betray you, Captain."
"Shhhhhhh!"
Under Lucifer's piercing gaze, Guy broke into a cold sweat, worried that Lucifer might strike him at any moment.
He knew that with Lucifer's temperament, he definitely could.
He regretted speaking so carelessly.
"I almost forgot, the captain hates nothing more than betrayal."
If Lucifer thought he was betraying him, it would be the end.
What should he do?
Guy now regretted his words, wishing he could take them back.
"Guy Sarah, you'd better remember what you said today. Anyone who dares to betray the Nether Pirates will end up miserably."
"When I say 'miserable,' I mean the kind of misery you can't even imagine!"
Lucifer's eyes gleamed with danger as he glanced at Guy.
"Yes, yes, Captain Lucifer, we're all on the same side."
"Chhhhhhh!"
Guy's heart raced as he forced a laugh to mask his growing fear.
"Yehahahaha, don't worry, Captain Lucifer. Anyone who dares to betray the Nether Pirates, I'll take care of them for you."
Enel laughed cruelly and slapped Guy on the back.
A jolt of electricity mixed with Armament Haki surged through Guy's body, making his hair stand on end once again.
"Okay, enough of this chatter when everyone's dead."
"Back to the Devil Fruit, shall we?"
"Do you still have the treasure map?"
Lucifer turned his attention back to Simon.
An ancient Zoan Devil Fruit had shown up, and Lucifer certainly wasn't about to let it slip through his fingers.
"If the Beasts Pirates haven't gotten their hands on it yet, there's still a chance for me."
"Yes, I keep the treasure map on me at all times."
With that, Simon pulled out a treasure map from his pants.
The map was old and tattered, yellowed with age.
"Hey, where did you put that treasure map?"
Seeing Simon's actions, Cavendish, Enel, and the others immediately shouted, baring their teeth.
"Who taught you that? Doesn't hiding things in your pants make you feel weird?"
Lucifer was speechless.
The others, including Jack, Weibull, and Baby5, looked equally disgusted.
Baby5 finally understood why she didn't see the treasure map while bandaging Simon—he had been hiding it there the whole time.
"What kind of habit is this? Who taught him?"
Lucifer didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Suddenly, he remembered that in the original story, Luffy also liked to hide things in his pants.
Luffy had once pulled an octopus out of his pants when coming down from Sky Island.
How did he even fit the octopus in there? Isn't he afraid that it might grab his... vital parts?
Or is it because he's rubbery and stretchy, so he isn't worried about it?
"Without the treasure map, can the Beasts Pirates find where the treasure is buried?" Lucifer asked.
"It shouldn't be possible. Otherwise, they wouldn't have chased us down so hard."
Simon shook his head.
"That's good. Let's set sail and go dig for treasure."
Lucifer gave the order.
Since becoming a pirate, Lucifer had been hunting, but he had never searched for treasure.
Come to think of it, treasure hunting is something pirates love to do the most.
After all, the Great Pirate Era began because of the great treasure left behind by Gol D. Roger.
Since the beginning of the Great Pirate Era, countless treasure maps have emerged.
Many were left by the great pirates of the old era, while some were treasures hidden by pirates before their capture, meant to be retrieved upon their return.
The vast sea holds countless treasures waiting to be discovered by pirates.
Fanlin Carl, an infamous uninhabited island in the New World, was famous for its harsh environment.
The island had more than 20 volcanoes, and many powerful beasts roamed the land.
Even pirates with bounties over 100 million couldn't survive there.
They would be killed by the sharp claws and fangs of the beasts.
At the fringe of Fanlin Carl, a group of pirates was stationed, with several pirate ships docked nearby.
The flags of Kaido's Beasts Pirates fluttered in the wind, declaring their presence to the world.
Boom!
A loud explosion echoed in the camp, sending a pirate flying, his chest caved in, blood spilling from his mouth. He was clearly dead.
"Trash! Are you all useless?"
"Can't even catch a badly injured guy? What are you doing?"
"Is that even Beasts Pirates?"
A man over 8 meters tall, with a massive, muscular build, roared loudly.
Each step he took made the ground tremble, as if he were a walking mountain.
"Please calm down, Master Jack."
"We've worked hard, but Simon is too strong, and now he's taken by Lucifer..."
"Um?"
Jack, his mouth concealed by a mask, stared coldly at the pirate soldier.
"What do you mean? Are you blaming me?"
"Simon is too strong?"
"He's barely hanging on, only half alive! How can he still be strong?"
The pirate soldier froze in fear, his body trembling, sweat pouring from his forehead.
He stood still, too terrified to move, tears and snot streaming down his face.
