Soren
I returned to the present, my chest heaving as I tried to steady my breathing. It wasn't easy recalling all of this. It was a memory that I had long buried inside of me.
The reason why I became like this. I looked up and my eyes widened in surprise.
Rowan was on his feet now, pacing the room like a caged animal. "And you believed him?"
I nodded slowly. "At the time, I didn't have a choice. He was the only one who'd ever shown me kindness in that place. You can imagine how let down I had felt to have taken his hand or even let him help me."
He stopped in front of me, his eyes blazing with anger. "You deserved more than his kindness. You shouldn't have trusted him."
A bitter smile tugged at my lips. "I know that now. But back then, I was just a broken omega clinging to the only lifeline I had and I haven't even told you the rest of it yet."
"There is more?" He sounded so surprised.
I nodded.
