The crash

Soren

"Is there a reason you're defending this killer?" Rudolf asked the second we were left alone, I could hear the disbelief in his tone.

I didn't answer right away.

To be fair, I had no idea why I was defending the killer. If only I had an answer for him then I would have probably provided that for the Alphas too. It was a clusterfuck.

Rowan was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, and I could practically feel his eyes boring into me. The silence dragged on until Rowan sighed, clearly irritated.

"Well?" he prompted.

I raked a hand through my hair, searching for a sensible explanation but finding none. "I don't know," I admitted, the words tasted bitter in my mouth. "Maybe it's because this whole thing is starting to feel like jungle justice. One death after another, and everyone's pointing fingers without actually looking at the bigger picture."
