The freaking truth

Soren

I had a meeting with an elder, someone I have known for a while since my father's time. He was a sort of friend.

I needed to ask him some questions if he knew about Rowan's father. This time, I wanted to go without Rowan because I see how much this hurts him even when he says it doesn't bother him.

But that's not why I didn't want to go with him. Rowan was a strong man and could endure anything but it's because,

I had a bad feeling about this.

The kind of feeling that burrowed under your skin and whispered in your ear that you were about to unearth something better left buried. Because the moment Rowan's father became a question without an answer, I knew I had to dig, whether I liked what I might find or not.

Was it wise to leave my issues and focus on his? No.
