I sank into the couch, the exhaustion in my body was a perfect match for the turmoil in my mind. Every muscle ached in my body and I just needed to sleep.

I should have just listened and stayed put. I was looking for closure when I should have accepted that my father hated me and wanted nothing to do with me.

I would accept that the little boy in me that had been wronged wanted a chance to meet him and make him realize that he was wrong. I was not a breeding machine, I was an Alpha now and a good one at that.

Instead, I had been inserted into a mess with no clue on how to clean it up. I couldn't even tell Rowan how it went because I was so stupid to not have listened.

I closed my eyes and sighed, trying to block out the chaos, but the sound of approaching footsteps pulled me back. I looked up to see Rudolf standing in the doorway, his brow furrowed in concern.

"You look like hell," he said, leaning against the doorframe.
