Soren
I barely got a wink of sleep.
My mind was in a constant loop, replaying last night's event. Rowan's empty bed, the gnawing fear in my gut, the way the nurse looked at me like I was losing my mind. Had I really imagined it? Was he there the whole time, or had something actually happened?
I rubbed my tired eyes, sighing as I stared at the files scattered on my desk. There was no use obsessing over it. I had work to do.
Today, I was handling a shipment, one that should have been routine. But, of course, nothing in my world ever went smoothly.
Rudolf entered my office, his expression grim. "We have a problem at the docks."
I tensed immediately. "What kind of problem?"
"One of our containers is missing."
I exhaled slowly, forcing myself to stay calm. "Define 'missing.'"
