Soren
When he came back for us, I still wasn't ready. I was still sore and I didn't want someone else to be punished on my behalf.
I prayed slightly for someone to come save us this time.
Leon was wiping the blood on a dirty rag when the doors exploded open. I was startled and my eyes widened.
Gunfire ripped through the warehouse.
Chaos erupted instantly, Leon's men started scrambling, shouting orders, bullets whizzing past us. I flinched at the deafening sounds, my ears ringing, my vision blurring from exhaustion. Through it all, I barely registered the dark figures storming in, moving with lethal precision.
The mafia.
The very same people who had been holding a grudge against me for reasons unknown. Okay, I lied.
I know all the reasons but I didn't think they would come for me. Or did they come for only Rowan?
I should've felt relief, but all I felt was confusion.
