Drawing Talent II

Talent. Or talents.

Something that should really be akin to drawing something out of the lottery... but it seems that in the world of Naruto, talents seemed heavily linked to relations.

Bloodlines, blood ties, chip of the old block, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and all that... for the most part.

It's why the Naras are smart pineapples, the Yamanakas are blonde possessors, the Akamichis are gluttonous fatsos, and so on and so forth.

Even the not-so-mighty Mights had something to linearly pass on their lineage, like their perseverance but also their deficiencies.

And yes... aside from the lovey-dovey Yellow Flash and Red Hot Habanero, the Pervy Sage, the Hatakes, and some other folks... the Taijutsu expert duo also did pass by this Kurama paper shop.

Apparently, they were looking for paper that weighed more than it should. To be used as an exercise-based paperweight perhaps.

It's too bad that it's not in stock and actually nonexistent but mother Maru still advised them about the potential of seals as an alternative.

At least, that's as far as Pedomaru concerned himself with the transaction before diving even deeper into exploring this drawing talent that he had.

As mentioned, he didn't have one before and he for sure wouldn't want to waste such an opportunity now.

Of course, after a month or so of scraping charcoal on smooth blankness, he's actually gotten good.

It also helped that mother Maru was quite supportive. Not just as a doting mother but as someone who is quite good at the art of art herself.

Maybe that's something of a prerequisite in Kurama partners. To ensure that the drawing genes are not diluted, only bolstered.

Kidding aside, the level of art he's achieved as a 3-year-old kid is really no noob level at this point.

Even father Pengu, back from his month-or-so-long mission, was a bit unnerved by the antics of his son. More so, the progress.

Despite already knowing the ins and outs, Pengu still asked. "What in the Will of Fire is going on?"

Maru really had not much else to say, except let out a hapless sigh.

Her son's interest and passion for the craft was something to be proud of, but there's always that 'but' that complicates matters.

Pengu himself dreads those complications but it would seem that he really has to have those complicated talks expedited.

----------

And so... before he knew it, Pedomaru was actually sat down on some sort of a father and son talk.

He wondered what this was about yet given the serious look that his father has, it really sets the tone of this whole setting.

Without further ado, Pengu asked. "Son, what do you know about our family?"

Obviously, Pedomaru knows some lots but considering his current 3-year-old character, he just said. "It's you, mother, and me. And then the other people at the clan neighborhood."

Pengu gave off a satisfied nod and added. "That is essentially our Kurama family but more so the Kurama clan. Still, I ask, what do you think our clan does?"

"Sell things like what our shop sells." The young Kurama simplified. "But also do shinobi stuff like what you do."

Pengu nodded in approval. Noting of how his son is clearly more observant than most.

Of course, with that noted, the older Kurama saw no need to hold back with what he's about to convey today.

Stating. "Those are good and all, Pedomaru. However, our Kurama clan is so much more than that..."

---------

And so began a practiced, memorized, and perhaps traditional speech that must have been passed on from one generation to the next within the family. Within the clan.

Making it to be a clan introductory sequence that Pedomaru didn't want to miss out on.

Just in case that he may or may not have to regurgitate it to someone down the line.

After all, the whole point of his father's talk was about lineage.

For the Kurama may be relatively small and not that influential but it's still an old, odd, and powerful one.

Like most, it was a clan that established itself during the Warring States era or period. No more need be said about that.

Though not on par with the Uchiha or Senju, they were fairly famous for their Genjutsu prowess, in which they were rivaled by few, and beaten by none.

Also like most, it was a clan that had itself convinced by Lord First's ideals and absorbed into the newly minted Hidden Leaf.

Forced to befriend old enemies and accept new norms.

In any case, most of those discrepancies blurred over time.

However, what makes the Kuramas stand out is the fact that they're still haunted by the demons of war.

For a clan that can manifest nightmares and fears... these cultivated demons are no joke.

They are terrifying weapons of chaos yet debilitating in relatively peaceful times.

So, yes, the Kuramas are burdened with these demons. Which are inner demons, at this point.

A curse threatening to spill out. Only from certain gifted Kuramas... but Pengu fears that the already-odd Pedomaru could be the afflicted one of this generation.

Hence, the necessity of this.

To prepare the young toddler and even themselves for the possibility.

A possibility that seemed more than likely given the fact that for days on end, he'd been drawing and scribbling like crazy.

As if possessed.

Pedomaru had himself to blame for that... but his new parents sure do overthink a lot.

He was just being over-enthusiastic and driven. Which was not to the point of needing exorcism.

Granted, as appreciative as he was of this new talent that he has.

It still clearly comes with a very tricky caveat.

In the form of the so-called Ido monster. Perhaps a manifestation of the psychological id.
