 I throw my head back and close my eyes as we drive to the company. I turn and look at Ace who was on his phone, reading the speech he was about to give to the whole world.

I finally gave moment to realize what he was wearing.

This hectic morning hasn't really allowed me to free my mind and think of other things. I noticed he was wearing a dark blue suit with a white dress shirt that was slightly unbuttoned.

 His hair was gelled back and he looked really professional. It was a different look compared to what he used to wear as Liam. Now he..

Im snapped out of my thoughts when he looks up and speaks "Alex?" he questions

I immediately stop freakishly staring at him and look out the window.

"Do I need to speak too when you give the speech?" I ask him after a few seconds looked more in control, like before.

"You don't need to, unless you want to?" he asks

I shake my head, "No thanks, I'd rather not" I say

The drive isn't too far since the penthouse is like 2 minutes away from Anderson Tech. The driver parked the car in front of the building and right in front, was a huge crowd of media reporters, photographers, cameras and a podium with a microphone. 

The valet opens the door and I get out first. Immediately cameras turn to me and the flashes go off. I turn and wait for Ace to com e out behind me and when he steps out, everyone goes even crazier. This was their first time seeing him back,

I know the crazy feeling. He stands beside me and puts a hand on my lower back. I would have slapped his arm off if we didn't have thousands of lenses pointed towards us. We both give a small smile and walk upto the podium. I stand to his side and he goes close to the microphone.

 The crazy mob of people yelling dies down as they become silent and focus everything on Ace, to hear what he has to say. He takes a moment to start his speech, a moment to get ready.

"No one really knows why they are alive, until they know what they'd die for. A quote from Martin Luther King.

I understand many of you are asking questions. How could something that is gone, be here today? I am Ace Anderson. In the government, I died one year ago, yet here I am, in front of you today, alive. You've seen the medical records, DNA results confirming that it's truly me. I know it is shocking and everyone is confused. The most important question is why.

I am standing here, in front of you this morning, to explain to you why. To answer your questions. This is an opportunity for me to explain myself and for you to understand my point of view on what has happened.

I spent my whole life, dedicated my whole life, to building this company. I built something, out of nothing.

I got married to my beautiful wife. I had goals and determination and my life looked perfect. Yet as we know, life can never truly be perfect. Everyone has enemies. My enemies got to a point where they were being a threat to not only me, but to my family. 

I was cornered into making one last decision which was wiping myself off of this earth. I had to go under the radar, cut off communication with everyone. This resulted in my fake death which I understand, got out of hand. 

However, looking at it from my point of view, was a life-threatening situation where I had to keep under the radar, in order to protect myself and my family. My intention was never to hurt my friends, family or loved ones. Even though, in my heart, I was by their side the whole time" he turns to me and tries holding my hand. It was blocked by the podium so I pulled my hand away.

I look into his eyes. It was true, he was by my side basically the whole time, yet at the same time he wasn't.

And the fact that his speech was so good, he had all these people fooled. But it was all a lie. He kept on lying and lying. Hurt grows in his eyes and I look away. Again, I couldn't just easily forgive him. I was grateful that he was back, safe. But I couldn't just throw away what happened and live happily ever after in his arms.

He shifts his focus back on the people and continues speaking "The threats have stopped and everything will resume as before. Again, I apologize for the confusion that has occurred. Thank you very much" he concludes and gets off the podium.

People start yelling again, asking questions "Will you be taking your place at Anderson Tech again?

Will Ms. Anderson be speaking? Who were these enemies? When did you officially get married? Why weren't we aware of the news until after your death?" endless questions

I quickly turn around and follow Ace who walked away pretty fast, into the building.

I enter the doors and see Ace speaking to Dr. Ashley, who was here.

"Great speech Ace, well done" he says and pats his shoulder

I walk up to them and they both face me

 "Alex, I'm glad you came back. I didn't geta chance to tell you that I'm sorry for everything that has happened. I understand how things were tough for you and me lying didn't help the situation but-" Dr. Ashley starts to say but

I cut him off

 "It's okay in the end, the past is the past so let it stay there" I say with a small smile and he nods his head "If you'l excuse me" I say and turn to walk away

 "Wait, Ill come up with you" Ace says placing his hand on my arm

I stop walking and turn to him, nodding my head. He says goodbye to Dr. Ashley and turns to me.

We walk to the elevator and I notice everyone at the lobby looking at us. We'll, I guess they were all looking at Ace, since it was his first day back. Everyone was curious to see his new 'face'.

We get into the elevator and press the top floor, which is where mny office was.

"Excited?" I ask 

"TO go to work? Ya right" he says sarcastically

The elevator doors open and immediately we see everyone who works on this floor, standing around patiently waiting. Getting out of the elevator, everyone looked shocked and let out a gasp.

 People were mumbling, as Ace turned and looked at me. 

Leila, Ace's old PA Comes up to us.

"Mr. Anderson, I-We, are all shocked. In a good way!

We're happy to have you back, we just- we all watched the interview you just made" she mumbles nervously

David comes out from his office "Ace, nice to have you back buddy .Alright everyone, I'm sure you all have things to do. 

Give them both some space, back to work" he says and everyone starts to disperse.

Ace starts to talk to a few of his old friends and people were welcoming him back. After a few minutes, my PASarah walks up to us.

"Good afternoon Ms. Anderson. Welcome back Mr.

Anderson" she says looking over at Ace

 "Alex, here is today's schedule. You were supposed to have a board meeting right now but I rescheduled it.

Your lawyer is here to settle paperwork now that Mr.

Anderson is back." she says 

"Oh-, okay thank you Sarah" I say taking the folders and looking through them

 "Also, there have been many incoming phone calls and emails from friends regarding the news and they wanted to have either lunch or dinner. To welcome Mr.Anderson back" she says

 "Hold on all of those reservations for now, we have other important things to take care of. Send them thank you cards" Ace says

She looks over at me for confirmation and I nod my head.

"Alright, lawyer is waiting in room 212" she says and leads us to the room where we meet with the lawyer.

We discuss paperwork and Ace's status in the government. Signed documents that now split our shares in half and that we were still legally married. 

The lawyer asks if I had collected any insurance money for his death which I obviously had not. It would be crazy considering how much money he had left behind.

 The lawyer goes through all the statistics of the company, our private spendings and new total income. Ace looks through the final numbers and turns to me with a surprised face 

"Am I looking at these numbers correctly?" he asks the lawyer

 "Those are all new updated and accurate numbers sir" she sayS 

"Alex, how did you manage to double the company's earnings in less than 1 year? This is unbelievable" he says

I show him the new strategic plans we had put in place, as well as new investors and customers.

"Did you not spend anything? This is crazy" he says shocked at the rise in numbers

 "Not really. The only thing I took money out for was charities and foundations" I say with a shrug 

"Wow. This is the best Anderson Tech has ever been'" he says still in shock 

"Is there a way for my share of the funds to be transferred to Ace? I would rather not keep anything" I tell the lawyer

Ace interrupts her from talking "No. No you're keeping half Alex. I won't allow it" he says

 "But Ace I-"

 "No, at least for now. Please" he says

I let out a puff of air and nod my head in agreement, closing the topic. We were still technically married for now. Until the new 'news' died down in the media.

We finish up our paperwork and shake hands with the lawyer, leaving the meeting room. Walking back to my office, Ace stops to talk to a few old friends, I notice David standing near his office door and I walk up to him

"Hey you, how ya holding up?" he asks me

 "Im holding up" I say with a smile 

"Im glad you stuck with your word and came today. I'm guessing you two made up?" he asks

 "With Ace? No." I say in a hushed tone so that no one else hears 

"We're only acting 'together' Just for publicity. I can't just forgive him yet David, it will take time" I say

 "Of course, I don't blame you. I have a meeting starting sOon so I'm going to go. But we can grab dinner after work? Il drive you" he says 

"Sure! That sounds good. Thank you so much David, I'll see you later" I say and walk back to Ace.

I notice him talking to a few girls who work at the call centre. 

I think. They were basically drooling over him and so obviously flirting! I walk up to them and grab Ace's arm, linking mine with his.

"My love, shall we get started, we all have work to do" I say first looking at him with a smile, who was taken by surprise. I then turned to the girls standing in front of us.

They quickly turn away and go back to their jobs. We walk to my office and close the door. I immediately let go of his arm and walk up to my desk.

"W-what was that?" he asks confused

 "What was what?" I question 

"My love? Are you okay?" he asks walking closer to where I was standing and looking through the folders on my desk.

"Im fine" I say, not looking at him as he comes closer.

 "Alexandra?" he questions

"Hmm?"

He leans into my ear and whispers with a smirk "Alexandra, were you a tiny bit jealous?"

I drop the papers back onto the desk and turn to face him 

"Jealous? Are you serious? It's your first day back and you have employees all over you. Since you're insisting I stay your wife in the public eye, I must act like one, and let people know they need to back off. Otherwise it would just seem inappropriate for me to stand back and do nothing" I say in a serious tone inches away from his face.

I realize our close proximity and hold my breath. He looks down at my lips.

"Mhm, if you say so" he mumbles and I can't help but bite my lip

I snap out of my thoughts and break the moment by speaking

 "Okay, now go to a different office Mr. Anderson, I need to work" I say and turn back to the papers on my desk 

"Uh, this was my office so Im staying here" he says confused 

"Um.. no. This is my office now so you go and find another one. There are many other ones available" I say

 "Why do I need to move?" he asks "Because all my shit is already here??" I question

 "Alex, this was my working space before. Why can't I just have it back? You haven't changed anything in it anyway" he says 

"This is ridiculous, I've been in here for a year! I don't have time to move into a different office, Ace" I say angry

What a stupid argument we were having right now

 "Fine, Il just work with you, in here. Together" he says

 "Fine!" I answer, having had enough of this 

"Leila!" he yells

The door opens and his former PA, who was this short shy and sweet girl named Leila, walks in.

"Yes sir, how may I help you sir?" She asks 

"I will be working in here with my wife from now on" he says looking at me sternly

 "Please bring my computer and things in here" he continues saying 

"Im on it sir" she says and walks out of the room 

"You're so extra" I say rolling my eyes 

"Thanks" he replies sarcastically and walks over to the window, looking out at the view.
