I walk into the gala and I start to feel my nerves come back after seeing so many people. This was my first time being out in a public event after that whole crazy news thing with ACe being back... and I was scared. Will people find it odd that I came alone, and wasn't with Ace? Maybe-

To be honest, I didn't want to care at this point so I shake my head from these negative thoughts and walk into the room. I notice a few eyes land on me and stop to talk to a few people I knew.

I find David talking to a few people and make my way over there to say hi

"Mr. Zay, looking fine as ever" I greet and give him a hug

 "Wow Alex, you look magnificent" he says looking up and down at my yellow dress 

"Thank you" I smile

 "Did you arrive alone? Where's Ace?" he asks

"Ya I did. I'm not sure, he said he'l come" I say and clear my throat when I see a lady walk up to us

 "Mrs. Anderson? Pleasure to meet you, My name is Rachel and I've been organizing tonight's event. Please come with me sO we can discuss when you will be giving your speech and other details"

 "For sure! If you'll excuse me" I say to David before following the lady

She goes through the schedule and tells me I will be giving my speech very shortly. She also goes through the fashion show schedule, what time I should go upstairs to change into this special piece that I will be wearing for the charity auction.

 After she explains everything, she tells me it's time to give my speech. I was so nervous, this speech was going to be broadcasted live on tv too, so I was really scared and I also hated speeches. But here goes nothing..

 💦 Ace 💦

I walk in through the doors and the first thing I hear is

Alexandra's voice, filling the room. I look up and notice everyone listening to her as she delivered her speech on stage.

She looked... she looked truly stunning in that beautiful yellow dress. Her speech was also very moving, speaking about girl's education all around the world, as an ambassador. I knew how nervous and still new all of this was to her but she was doing a great job, and was speaking from the heart.

"...To all the strong and determined young girls out there, I know how hard it is to get up every morning and go to school. I know how difficult it is to study when you need to help out at home, not everyone is fortunate as others. But if you put your mind and heart into it, you can achieve anything,.. " her words start to mute as the only thing I could focus on, was her shinning in the light

"...and lastly, always listen to your heart. I don't know everything there is to this world, but one thing I am very certain of, is always receiving correct answers that come from our heart. That comes from love" Her eyes meet mine when she finally sees me and it feels like we were both frozen in time. After a few seconds, she looks down and says a small 'thank you' before getting of stage

Seeing him in the audience made me nervous again. I was fine when speaking to everyone, but knowing that he was listening, made me feel shy for some apparent reason. And I didn't like it.

As I head down from the stage, everyone starts to clap and head back to their seats. I see David and a few other coworkers and head over to them

 "Amazing speech Alex" David says

I smiled and was about to speak before I felt a warm hand being placed gently on my lower back. I immediately know who's touch it is.

"Wonderful speech indeed" I hear Ace whisper in my ear

I turn to face him and our faces are inches away from touching. I looked into his eyes and down to his lips which were really close, very close.

I snap out of my thoughts and move away, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Thank you... I'm gonna geta drink" I say and quickly leave before he's able to say something.

I go over to the bar and notice a table with champagne so I pick up a glass and then talk to a few people I knew, mostly business partners. 

After a while, I walk back to where David and Ace were and when I reach them, I see Veronica standing beside them, talking to Ace.

I hated that b!tch.

I was surprised to see Ace laughing at something she had said. I mean... isn't she his ex finance? She left him because his face was damaged- why would you even want to speak to her after that?!

I walk up to them and their heads turn to me immediately 

"Oh Alexandra, you're here" she says with a fake smile 

"Veronica, wonderful to see you" I say with the same fake smile, and sip some of my champagne 

"Veronica was just telling us this hilarious thing that happened recently at one of her runway shows" Ace says with a smile looking over at Veronica

 "Oh how funny" I say

They continue to talk and laugh, I was a bit lost, none of what she said made any sense to me.

A few moments later, Rachel, the woman in charge of the event comes up to us.

"Sorry to interrupt but Mr. Anderson, our guest who was going to take part in the auction wasn't able to make it and we were wondering if you could take his place in the auction." she says

 "Uh sure, what's the auction for?" Ace asks 

"Well, the highest bidder would win a dinner with you..

Your current status would also gain more auctioneers and we would raise good money for charity" she says

 "As much as I love helping charity, I'm sorry but I can't participate in this" Ace says looking over at me

 "Mr. Anderson, I know but it would really he"I interrupt Rachel 

"You should do it" I say and everyone looks at me like I was crazy

"What?" Ace questions

 "It's just a dinner... and besides the money is for charity"

I say shrugging my shoulders

 "Wow Alexandra, Im surprised you would be comfortable with this" Veronica says giving me this nasty look

Ace looks at me a bit upset. I just wanted to prove that

I'm not jealous and whatever he does, doesn't affect me

 "So will you participate sir?" Rachel asks him

He continues looking at me, and I look away.

"Fine" he says

 "Thank you so much! Please follow me, it will start soon" she says and he follows her to the stage

 "Are you sure about this?" David asks me

 "Of course" I say

 "Good for you, for learning to block away the jealousy. I mean I guess you just got used to it, besides, he's always been a man of the ladies" Veronica says with laugh

I would have slapped her if we weren't at a gala..

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Our auction is about to begin, and even though our original guest isn't here for the Win a Dinner auction, we have an even more special guest here tonight! The one and only, Ace Anderson from Anderson Tech who has volunteered to participate for tonight's auction. The highest bidder will win a special dinner with Ace!" the host says.

Everyone lets out a small gasp when they see Ace walk up on stage 

"May the highest bidder win!"

I watch as people go crazy and start to write down ballads and place them in the box. Not gonna lie, I was a little sad at the thought that another girl was going to spend time with 

Ace over dinner but I mean it's not like we're actually married so I shouldn't be stopping him or holding him back.

After a while, I decided to grab another drink and start to chat with a few other people I knew. I think the bidding was done so that meant the fashion show was going to start soon so I walked over to the restroom I enter the hallway and see a familiar pair of blue eyes standing in front of me, holding an envelope.

"Auction is over?"I question

 "Ya! The restaurant address for tonight's dinner is in this envelope" Ace says with a smile 

"Ooo sounds fun" I say

He passes me the envelope "Why are you giving me this?" I ask a bit confused 

"Because, I, the winner, am requesting a dinner with you Alexandra" he says coming closer to me

 "I don't understand" I say

 "I found out how much the highest bid was, and I doubled that amount, to ensure I won. I wouldn't want to go on a dinner with anyone else, except for you" he says

My heart flutters, and I smile "You went through all of this, to win dinner with me?" I question

 "of course. I would do anything for you" he says, placing his hands on my waist, with our faces inches apart.

I look into his eyes and down at his lips and he does the same 

"Will you accept my invitation to dinner after this gala is

Over?" he asks with a smile

I take a moment to respond 

"Maybe.." I say a teasing smile 

"Maybe?"

 "If you would truly do anything for me, than after the gala, you go to the restaurant and wait to see if I show up or not" I say and start to straighten his tie.

He looks at me a bit surprised "Il be there, waiting" he says without hesitation

 "Alright, I might or might not be there... but now I have a fashion show to get ready for" I say and smile at him before leaving.

Standing behind the bathroom door, I opened it to make sure both Ace and Alex had left. I had just heard everything they said about Ace winning the dinner for Alex...

What the hell does he see in her!?

I exit the bathroom and go back into the gala, and spot

David 

"David, can we have a word" I say and pull him to the side 

"Tell me about Alex and Ace's current relationship" I say 

"Why?" he asks

 "Don't ask questions, just spill" 

"Uh, well...They're still married... But they've been having it rough ever since she found out he was lying to her with the whole Ace being dead thing" David says

Hearing this made me happy

 "Really? So things aren't going too well now..." I say 

"Ya..." David says

I raise an eyebrow and turn to David 

"This is our chance then" I say with a smirk

 "Excuse me?" he questions

 "Cut the act David, it's so clear you practically LOVE the girl. 

The way you look at her when she speaks to you...

it's so obvious. I don't know what the hell you see in her. She's practically garbage... I heard she was a nurse before marrying Ace!" I say shivering at the thought

 "W-well, Even if I do! What difference does it make? She doesn't even see me that way, we're only 'friends'." he says 

"You want the girl and I want Ace back" I say and he immediately looks at me like I'm crazy

 "What? Weren't you the one who broke up with him!?" he asks

 "Well.. yes. But that was the past. He's back, and I must say. looking better than ever. And this is our chance David. We can both get what we want. If we work together." I say with a smirk.

Step 1, was to break them apart, and they were on the verge of that happening. So with a little push, everything would fall right down to our laps.

I go upstairs where the models were getting ready for the fashion show and I see Alexandra who was the "special guest" being put into a dress. Ugh I still can't believe they asked her to be part of the fashion shoW..

she's so ugly

Anyway, I notice she's busy so I walk to where everyone's belongings were and notice her yellow clutch placed on the table. 

I look to see no one near so I quickly open it and take out the envelope Ace had given her with the restaurant address and put a different envelope in her clutch, with a different address.

"Veronica!?" I hear someone call out andI quickly turn to see one of my model friends

 "Finally you're here! Hurry get into your dress, the show is about to start soon!" she says

Ooo, I let out a breathe. That was close... I shove the fake address into Alex's cutch and place the real one in mine and go to the dressing room to change.

A girls gotta do what she's gotta do.. anything to get back her man.
