Without Koko's guiding senses, Amyla was lost in the world. Kai had broken off the largest branch he could find and used it as a sort of guiding stick for her, but even that greatly reduced their efficiency.

Not that efficiency meant much anymore. They were hiding from an SS-Rank beast–a beast so strong that they would die the second it noticed them. And at some point, they would have to face such a beast.

For now, Kai was looking for any stragglers from the other team. If the wisp was to be believed, almost no one died from the initial encounter. A far better outcome than their first bout with the historia, which ended with 13 deaths.

'The weakest of us had already died this time around though."

That was the horrifying truth. The lower amount of deaths didn't mean the historia had gotten any weaker. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Despite the 4 students' capabilities in surviving this long, they were still killed by the historia.
