Into The Frozen Forest (Part 6)

Michael stood on the muddy road of the small town they had stayed the previous night in, his ears were currently leading him, Equan, and Gabriel toward something he had picked up on last night.

A small arena where people could fight for money, and they heard a pretty big name was going to show up on this morning.

Michael was warry, but also dead set on gathering more information, and when they arrived they found a large group of spectators standing around a dug out arena in the ground, that was only made of mud and stone pillars.

But when they got closer, dread swallowed up Michael entirely, as a silver sword ripped straight through the heart of one of the adventurers from the night before.

The one who had both of the massive chicken legs, had just met his end to something that not even Chase could have been prepared for.

"Winner! The money goes to Sazir of House Frostfang!"

The announcer yelled, before muttering to someone to get rid of the body.

"Next fighter, please raise your hand."

Michael was still standing in shock, when he realized his body had been completely frozen from the sheer strength of The Wendigo's natural power.

He had frosty white hair, that rested over his cold lifeless eyes, and wasn't even wearing any armor, just a long sleeve black shirt, and a pair of leather pants.

His sword looked like it had been dragged through countless wars, with permanent burn marks, and fractures, as if it had been put back together countless times.

"We should g-"

"I would like to fight!"

Gabriel raised his hand, causing both Michael and Equan's eyes to widen to the point of complete despair.

"What are you doing!?"

Equan frantically yelled, as Gabriel was already making his way toward the entrance to the arena.

Then Equan turned to Michael, complete fear resting in his eyes.

"Do something!"

Michael truly did not know what to do, the look in Gabriel's eyes were almost as determined as Chase's were in that moment in the locker room when halftime was about to end.

"I- I can't..."

There was no stopping Gabriel, at least not by Michael.

The other members of the team, quickly ran over to them.

"What is he doing!"

Vivian yelled, with panic escaping her frozen lips.

"This is bad..."

Ricky muttered, as he looked around.

"Summer isn't here... We don't have a healer..."

Danny continued.

At the center of the arena, Gabriel and Sazir stood about ten meters apart.

Gabriel summoned his trident, and Sazir fiddled with his sword before speaking in a sick and twisted tone.

"Do I know you?"

Gabriel shook his head.

"No, but you know my ally quite well."

Sazir lifted his chin into a subtle smirk.

"Do I?"

Gabriel nodded.

"You do... You killed his father in the raid of Willowmere."

Sazir's smirk grew even more twisted, but his eyes showed something much more terrifying... Anger...

"Gabriel! forfeit the match!"

Equan yelled, from atop the viewing point.

Then a large guard, stepped in front of Equan.

"No trespassing, honor the sacred laws of a duel."

"To hell with your duel!"

The guard then shoved Equan back and into the mud.

'Come on! If Chase were here, he would be able to stop this...'

But alas, Chase never showed up in time.

The match started with a war horn, and Sazir shot forward, immediately avoiding Gabriel's swift trident.

Gabriel sidestepped the attack, but looked to have slightly lost balance.

With a downward counter attack, Gabriel nicked the side of Sazir's leg with the sharpest part of his trident, but the attack only deflected off of Sazir's leg like some sort of metal.

Gabriel swung his blade up, narrowly avoiding a direct slice of Sazir's silver sword, but his attack didn't meet its mark either.

"I commend you Envixity! But your cursed bloodline dies with you..."

Then before anyone could tell what happened, ice shot from the ground and wrapped itself around Gabriel's legs and hands, causing him to drop the trident.

Then with the sound of metal ripping through flesh, the silver sword tore through Gabriel's chest like a knife slicing through butter.

And the fight was over.

Gemini fell to his knees, and Ricky covered his eyes.

Equan screamed, but all of the sound was drowned out by the cheers and yells of the spectators.

But even that was submerged by the drum-like sound of Michael's heartbeat.

"No..."

Michael whispered.

Sazir leaned in closer, pressing the blade deeper into Gabriel's chest.

"Perhaps I missed my mark, but remember boy... I ended the Phoenix bloodline, I am no mere mortal to be toyed with..."

And with that he yanked the blade from Gabriel's chest, and had already left the arena before his body hit the ground with a lifeless thud.
