Rain Of Arrows

Equan held his hand out, feeling the ice cold texture of the rock formations around him.

He was still quite surprised that Chase had asked for Equan to lead the Eastern forces to such a crucial role in this war.

But he accepted nonetheless.

It was strange...

Even though Chase was still around the same age as Equan, being just a year or so ahead of him... Equan still looked up to the guy.

He had been more of a parent, than any of his real family had ever been.

Which wasn't really saying much, because he was called a fool by his own father for using a bow over any "Real" weapon.

But he was going to show that fool, he was going to show all of them.

As they neared the designated location, Equan could feel the tension in the air.

His men were tired and cold, and the worst hadn't even nearly arrived yet.

"Stand tall soldiers, knock your arrows."

Sure enough, they reached the overlook of the mountains, and if the bone structure of his face hadn't existed than Equan's jaw would have surely hit the ground.

A crater the size of the Phoenix Academy Aetherball stadium filled the center of the valley where the armies had met only hours ago...

Soldiers stood still, and two powerful soldiers were standing in the midst of a stalemate.

"Chase..."

There was no way in hell that the boy should have held his own against someone of ten star output, especially a general of one of the twelve nations, but somehow Equan had not doubted Chase once.

And now that he stood in the presence of greatness, Equan was thankful that he had not doubted someone of his caliber.

But there was still one problem with Chase's original plan.

Even though the central armies had ceased fighting, the Western armies had converged with the Western armies, killing everyone in sight.

Sazir looked down at a small strip of paper.

"Central armies equal five thousand to ten thousand..."

"Western armies equal three thousand to five thousand..."

And of course the Eastern army was one thousand to none...

Equan spoke with a stern voice, and made sure to sound twice as sure of himself as he truly was.

"Men and women! Aim for the heart of the Western armies, but do not hit the central armies..."

"What about our allies?"

One of the soldiers yelled.

"If they wish to fight in a cease fire... Than they can die within one as well..."

His men grinned, as if what he had said was right morally in any way.

"Sir! We are proud to serve under your command! You carry the heart of a warrior!"

Equan shook his head.

"I simply want to end this foolish war..."

"AIM!"

He screamed, knocking his own arrow and lifting it toward the sky.

"HOLD!"

Equan took a deep breath, and felt Primis seeping out of his catalyst and into his Lumen.

Lighting radiated around the tip of his arrow, and then split into several more arrows knocked against his ethereal string.

"FIRE!"

Have you ever seen a thousand Primis infused arrows light up the sky?

Well neither has Equan... His eyes widened at the sight he had made possible with his own intuition.

A dark shadow had covered the entire battlefield for much longer than just a mere moment...

The arrows soared for nearly an entire minute before they began to hit their marks.

The entirety of the Western battlefield had been completely overwhelmed by the forces of the Eastern army...

"Retreat!"

Equan yelled half heartedly, as Frostfang began to split their forces toward the break in the mountain.

As they moved toward the south, a terrible pressure began to overtake Equan's mind and his knees threatened to buckle...

'They are definitely targeting the East with most of their forces... That's for damn sure...'

No... he was wrong...

Once they reached the river, ice had overtaken its surface once more, so Equan whispered to his second in command to begin to sprint over the surface of the water as quietly as possible.

Equan turned toward the break of the mountain where the enemies would come from, as he steeled himself for the worst possible outcome.

"Shit..."

Well... The worst possible outcome would have been quite nice at the current moment.

A single figure shrouded in ice stood at the base of the formations they had just came from.

Equan smiled, with fear hidden behind every muscle in his face.

"Rhysara of House Frostfang!"

"Silence... Child..."

"We have made a grave miscalculation... If you would just excuse me!"

"Madroth..."

The queen cursed under her breath, and just as the last of the Eastern armies soldiers crossed onto solid ground, the ice began to break and growls echoed through the ground that Equan stood upon.

Then the monstrous form of the frost serpent broke the water, and towered over the entire area...

Equan wanted to fall to his knees, but his army was by far the weakest of the three.

This had not been expected at all, and Chase would face terrible judgement if the entire plan had truly gone through the roof.

Equan steeled himself.

"Beast of ice... FACE ME!"

He screamed, drawing the attention of the frost serpent and sparking his legs with the absolute maximum of his primis and axis reserves.

The beast lowered its serpentine head, shrouded in cracked ice, and let out a terrible roar.

Then Equan launched himself into the sky, and knocked his bow with speed and precision.

He whispered, as he ascended as high as he physically could.

"May the gods of the stormy mountains protect me..."
