Chapter 125: A Glimpse of Power—The Future Captain's Might!

A table full of dishes was quickly devoured by the three of them.

After agreeing on a time for their sparring session, Shisui excused himself and left.

As for Mikoto, Shisui had finally come to terms with the situation.

The future captain's decisions were always right. If he acted this way, there had to be a reason.

All Shisui needed to do was follow orders.

Once Shisui was gone, Mikoto began tidying up the house.

She worked tirelessly until midnight before calling out to Mirai, who was training in the courtyard.

"It's time for your bath."

"Got it."

In a large tub filled with steaming water, Mirai reclined, eyes closed, relishing the warmth.

Mikoto stood nearby, a playful glint in her eye as she gave Mirai a reproachful glance and pinched his waist lightly.

"Why didn't you warn me we'd have a guest today?"

Mirai caught her delicate hand with a grin. "Come on, don't act like you didn't enjoy the attention. Do you know how many women would give anything to be in your place?"

"But if word gets out... with my status..." Mikoto trailed off, her worry evident.

Mirai scoffed, his tone decisive. "What status? Your only status is as my woman."

He leaned forward, his voice dropping to a commanding murmur.

"From now on, you're moving in with me. I'd like to see who dares gossip about it."

Mikoto bit her lip at his domineering tone. "But Itachi and Sasuke still need someone to look after them."

Mirai chuckled. "Hire a nanny."

Seeing her lingering hesitation, Mirai leaned close to her ear, whispering, "Unless you'd rather I remind you of your place… even if you beg me to stop."

The memories flashed unbidden through Mikoto's mind, her body going soft against him. She could only nod, resting her head on his chest.

"I'll do as you say… ."

The next morning, Mirai hired a nanny to care for Itachi and Sasuke. Mikoto packed her things and officially moved into Mirai's home.

The clan's reaction was unexpected.

Instead of criticism, Mikoto received overwhelming praise. It seemed to many that leaving Fugaku for Mirai was akin to "choosing the light."

Even some elder women from the clan approached Mikoto, offering advice and encouragement, urging her to care for Mirai.

Relieved of her worries, Mikoto felt a newfound sense of responsibility. As the partner of someone seen as the clan's beacon of hope, she resolved to support Mirai fully, in every way possible.

By midday, Mirai headed to a training ground in the village.

Shisui was already there, his face lighting up as Mirai approached.

"Captain, shall we begin?"

Mirai nodded. "Let's."

The moment the words left his lips, Shisui's Sharingan spun into its Mangekyō form.

He weaved hand signs in a blur, summoning a dozen clones to rush at Mirai.

"Captain, since our last spar, my ocular power has grown exponentially. You'd better be careful!"

Mirai remained unfazed, his hands coming together in a slow clap.

"Shikotsumyaku: Dance of the Seedling Fern."

The ground erupted as countless sharp bone spikes sprouted, tearing through Shisui's clones like paper.

Simultaneously, a wave of shimmering gold sand poured from Mirai's gourd, spreading across the training ground in seconds.

Trapped between the encroaching sand and unyielding bone forest, Shisui found himself with no way out.

Desperation mounting, he heard Mirai's calm voice.

"Ninja Art: Shadow Imitation Technique."

The overlapping shadows cast by the sand and bones left Shisui with no escape. In an instant, he was caught.

"Scorch Style…"

"I surrender!" Shisui shouted, drenched in sweat, his voice cracking. He wasn't taking any chances—one more second might have cost him his life.

Though Mirai hadn't acquired Kotoamatsukami this time, he didn't seem disappointed. After all, he had another chance tomorrow.

As the bone forest and sand receded, Shisui approached Mirai, his awe evident.

"Captain, your strength is incredible!"

Shisui had thought that with his Mangekyō Sharingan, the gap between them would be negligible.

He couldn't have been more wrong. Mirai's casual techniques left him utterly helpless.

And the most terrifying part? Mirai hadn't even moved from his spot.

"Shisui," Mirai said. "Same time tomorrow. Be here."

"Yes, Captain!"

...

Hokage's Office.

Inside, Sarutobi Hiruzen and the advisors, including Danzo, stood in grim silence, watching the sparring session through a crystal ball.

The raw power Mirai wielded left them all shaken. The combination of Kekkei Genkai abilities he displayed was almost unbelievable.

And now, Shisui had awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan too.

Danzo broke the silence, his voice trembling.

"Hiruzen, why hasn't Mirai gone blind yet?"

"How should I know?" Hiruzen snapped, frustration evident.

Danzo paced the room, his cane tapping furiously on the wooden floor.

Koharu's eyes lit up suddenly. "I've got it!" she exclaimed. "This is the beginning of his downfall!"
