Early morning.
Uchiha Mirai sat in the living room, feeling refreshed. Not far away, Mikoto and Konan busied themselves—one washing clothes, the other tidying up the house.
Watching the warm scene unfold, Mirai couldn't help but let a small smile tug at the corners of his lips.
Being doted on by two beautiful women like this was something he wouldn't have dared to dream of in his past life.
Just then, a commotion came from outside the door, and moments later, Tsunade barged in like a whirlwind.
Mirai quipped with a grin, "Tsunade, ever heard of knocking first before dropping by?"
Tsunade rolled her eyes at him.
"Knocking? That's not my style."
Her gaze quickly landed on Mikoto and Konan, who were diligently at work, and she couldn't resist taking a jab at him.
"You really know how to live the good life, don't you?"
Mirai chuckled, shrugging. "What can I say? Mikoto and Konan are natural homemakers."
Tsunade's annoyance only grew as she saw the smug smile on his face. Ignoring him, she greeted the two women instead.
"Mikoto, Konan! It's been a while. Why do the two of you look even more radiant lately?"
Her keen eye as a woman couldn't miss the noticeable glow in their complexions. Mikoto and Konan exchanged a quick glance before laughing shyly.
"Tsunade-sama," Mikoto said with a playful tone, "it's a bit hard to explain, but we can give you a hint: if you want to keep looking young and beautiful, you might consider asking Mirai for help."
Before Tsunade could react, the two women quickly excused themselves.
"We'll leave you to discuss your business. Don't mind us."
Watching them retreat, Tsunade muttered under her breath, puzzled.
Ask Mirai for help?
Her eyes narrowed in suspicion as she turned to Mirai, who was now looking at her with a smirk that made her immediately realize she'd been teased.
"Ugh, Mikoto, Konan—just you wait!" she snapped, shooting Mirai a death glare. "And what are you smirking at?"
If looks could kill, Mirai might've been in trouble, but he simply sipped his tea, unfazed.
"So, Tsunade," he said lazily, "what brings you here today?"
"I need to borrow some money," she said bluntly.
"Borrow money?"
Tsunade nodded, arms crossed. "I've been strapped for cash lately, so I figured I'd hit you up."
With Mirai gone from the village for so long, she'd struggled. Her gambling losses had wiped her out, and no one else was willing to lend her a single coin. The sudden halt in her extravagant spending had left her feeling utterly miserable.
To make matters worse, she couldn't exactly steal or rob anyone—not here in Konoha, at least.
The moment she heard Mirai had returned, she'd wasted no time showing up at his doorstep.
Mirai leaned back in his chair, beckoning her with a sly grin.
"You know the rules. Come here."
Tsunade sighed, closed the door, and sat in his lap, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
Mirai tilted her chin up, his voice teasing. "How is it that you've done this so many times, yet you still blush?"
Tsunade turned her head away, grumbling, "Just get on with it."
As Mirai savored the moment, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
Much later…
Tsunade stared at the pile of money before her—one million ryō—with an expression of pure fury.
"Are you kidding me? Is this a joke?"
Mirai shrugged. "Fair trade. You get what you pay for."
Her face turned red with anger, her eyes practically shooting flames.
"Last time, you gave me ten times this much!"
Unbothered by her outburst, Mirai took another sip of tea. "Rules are rules. If you want more, you'll have to step up."
Tsunade glared at him, seething. But after some hesitation, she stayed put. If she walked away now, all her previous efforts would've been for nothing.
Mirai smirked, pleased by her reluctant compliance. Tsunade doesn't understand the concept of sunk costs, does she? he thought. If she did, she'd probably storm out right now.
With someone like her, there was no need to worry about crossing boundaries. So long as she lacked the strength to resist him, she'd always end up yielding.
...
At the Hokage's Office.
Mirai sat across from Mei Terumi, curiosity evident in his gaze.
"So, Mei, what brings you here?"
The Mizukage candidate bowed slightly, her tone resolute. "Fourth Hokage, I need your help."
"What kind of help?"
Taking a deep breath, Mei's eyes hardened with determination. "I need you to help me stage a coup and overthrow Yagura's regime."
Mirai raised an eyebrow, surprised. A coup in Kirigakure? This was unexpected.
Noticing his reaction, Mei quickly added, "You warned me once that Kirigakure would fall into darkness. That prophecy has come true.
"Yagura's Blood Mist policies grow more brutal by the day. There's no trust left among the ninja in the village—everyone's ready to stab each other in the back. Countless lives have been lost.
"And yet, Yagura does nothing. He hides in the Mizukage's office while the village spirals into chaos."
Her voice trembled with emotion. "I can't stand by and watch Kirigakure destroy itself. I've come to ask for your help because you're the only one who can save us!"
Hearing her plea, Mirai couldn't help but chuckle inwardly.
Looks like things are about to get interesting.
