The little girl was born healthy and well that night, the guards who stood outside the house cleaning the mess could hear her crying. Two of them approached the hag that Shin and the girls killed, "Is this monster really dead?" He looked at the hag's shredded corpse.

"There are no signs of life." Shin replied and Sacha confirmed, "Now that she is dead I don't smell any evil from her. Beside the stench of her rotten body." An evil can't play dead in the face of a paladin's senses.

Shin walked past the hag's corpse and looked at the soldiers, "Clean her up. I'll go check on Vesper."

With the hag's strange powers and magic Shin was worried she might've done something bad to Vesper, maybe even cursed him so he went to check. As expected, the moment Shin looked at Vesper he could sense a mark on his aura, a black blemish which sparked with magic akin to a curse.
