Vix's Mother

The next morning, waking up earlier than usual, Whiskey-Jack looked at his health noticing it had recovered in his sleep, and the bruise to his body had healed.

His lips began to form a smile, realizing the advantage his new body had when it came to healing, "It took me a week to heal before the Creator had gifted me the system," his mind stirred, trying to comprehend how his new body worked, "It seems to only heal when I've had a good night's rest."

A few minutes of contemplating the changes, he was ready to leave early, wanting to avoid Vix, before she noticed he was gone. He silently snuck out of the room, grabbing his gear, but he was too late .

"Going somewhere" Vix said with a smile drinking her tea, watching Whiskey-Jack's freeze like a spooked animal.

Having been caught, Whiskey-Jack placed his gear on the table, and turned to Vix to discuss today's plan, the two deciding to take their time getting ready and packing extra supplies encase of emergency.

When the two had finished, Whiskey-Jack took the lead, heading back towards yesterday's encounter with the skin walkers, but he had a nagging thought, "If she gets hurt…" he didn't want to imagine the scenario that would play out, with Midok finding out his only daughter had been harmed.

The two walking side-by-side hadn't spoken much since leaving the house, the tension rising between the two, until Whiskey-Jack decided to ask a question, "Hey Vix, I was meaning to ask why don't I see your mother often" his question hoping to somewhat dampen the intensity in the air.

Waiting for a response, he peeked over at Vix, her eyes watering over, taking her time to compose herself .

"My mother's been sick the last couple months… she went for a walk one day to forage some fruits and vegetables…while she was out…she had encountered a being, it wasn't the same as the other's from what she told us" she took a deep breath once more, as her voice started to tremble and continued.

"We're not sure what kind or what it did to her, however she hasn't been able to leave her bed for more than an hour at a time" Vix finished, her throat tightened, not allowing her to say more.

This worried Whiskey-Jack, having had a similar experience happen to his mother, however he couldn't help but empathize with Vix's current situation, making him think that it would be best to leave the topic alone for now.

Walking in silence the two had reached the spot, Whiskey-Jack noticing that the body's of the two skin walker's were nowhere to be found, "It was probably the wolf…or some other creatures" the thought causing a shiver down his spine, knowing some were cannibal in nature.

Checking their surroundings, the two plopped down on the cold ground, Whiskey-Jack not giving any context as to why they suddenly stopped, "What are we waiting for?" Vix finally asked nervously, choosing to keep her head on a swivel.

Until she could hear a snarling growl, it had come from a dark section of bushes, she drew her bow and ready an arrow in the direction of the growl.

"Oh my God! It's a wolf" as she pulled her bow further back ready to release, until Whiskey-Jack noticing the situation jumped in front of her with his hands up.

"STOP! It's here to help us" his face growing red, not sure how to explain he enlisted the help of a wolf to her.

The wolf walked over slowly somewhat showing it's fangs, angry that the girl in front of it would even consider drawing a weapon on it. The air was so tense, Whiskey-Jack felt he could cut it with his sword.

"She's fiesty… she'll be perfect for this task" the wolf eventually said
