When Su Ye's sword tip was at Sif's throat, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
It was as if some terrifying entity had its eyes on him; his spider-sense went crazy, raising every hair on his body.
At the same time, a sudden gust of wind arose, dark clouds gathered in the sky, and thunder rumbled through the heavens.
Seeing this, Su Ye almost shouted, "Thunderstorm! Quick, take in the laundry!"
But now wasn't the time for jokes. Nearby in the courtyard, close to the hammer, Thor—who had seemed utterly defeated—suddenly exuded a completely different aura.
"No one... hurts... my friends!"
Thor spoke with a stern face, emphasizing each word as his furious eyes locked onto Su Ye like he was facing a monstrous criminal.
Clearly, Thor was enraged.
When Loki sent the Destroyer to kill him, he wasn't angry. When he learned Loki had deceived him, he wasn't angry. But when Su Ye defended himself by beating up Sif and the Warriors Three, Thor lost it.
It's clear: Thor doesn't represent justice. His tolerance is exclusive to Loki. Not even Odin is entitled to it.
The hammer sensed Thor's anger. It wasn't blind rage but a protective instinct born from care for his friends—a belief in safeguarding.
Though this belief wasn't exactly what Odin had in mind when he enchanted the hammer, it was close enough.
Thus, Mjolnir acted on its own, responding to Thor's call, summoning lightning to restore his powers as the God of Thunder.
Make no mistake, Mjolnir has the power and autonomy to do so.
Both Mjolnir and the later Stormbreaker aren't mere weapons; they possess a degree of sentience. In fantastical terms, they have weapon spirits.
This was especially evident in Thor: Love and Thunder.
In Thor: Ragnarok, Mjolnir was shattered by Hela, but by the time of Thor: Love and Thunder, it was displayed in New Asgard on Earth as a tourist attraction.
As a side note, the small play featuring Loki, performed by Matt Damon's character, was also revived in New Asgard and became a major tourist draw.
Jane Foster, feeling her time was limited due to cancer, visited New Asgard for solace. She toured Mjolnir along with the other tourists.
Then, the hammer reassembled itself and flew into Jane's hands, not only granting her vitality and curing her cancer but also transforming her into the Mighty Thor.
If Thor had known Mjolnir could repair itself, he might not have sought the Dwarven King to forge Stormbreaker.
Later, when Thor saw the reborn Mjolnir and secretly called out to it in excitement, Stormbreaker quietly floated over and gave him a cold, deathly stare.
It was like a newlywed wife catching her husband flirting with an ex pure murder vibes.
So, these weapons possess significant autonomy. Mjolnir bypassing Odin's enchantment to restore Thor's powers? Totally feasible.
Unfortunately, this spelled trouble for Su Ye.
He originally thought Thor wouldn't regain his powers unless he was willing to sacrifice himself for his friends.
In that case, Su Ye believed he'd be invincible here, free to deal with the four arrogant Asgardians however he wished.
Beating them up and hauling them off to Red Shield was entirely possible.
After all, a little violence might teach them some respect.
But now that Thor was back as the God of Thunder, Su Ye's past actions would likely be scrutinized, and he'd lose the upper hand.
Thor would undoubtedly return to Asgard with his friends, making all of Su Ye's efforts futile.
Not only that, Su Ye now had to face Thor's vengeance.
Even with all his newfound powers, Su Ye doubted he could match Thor wielding Mjolnir.
Unless… he could neutralize Thor's lightning abilities.
Across from him, Thor roared, his body slowly levitating as he and Mjolnir became two poles of an electrical circuit. White currents arced through the air between them.
Lightning gathered in the sky, striking down and enveloping Thor in a dazzling white light, forcing everyone to avert their eyes.
After several seconds, the light faded, revealing Thor in his battle armor, red cape billowing—a symbol of unrivaled power.
"I am Thor, God of Thunder!"
Su Ye smirked. "And? Do you represent the glory of the Norse gods?"
Thor glared at the fallen Warriors Three and Sif, still unconscious from their injuries. "You hurt my friends!"
Su Ye's voice turned cold. "So what?"
Thor raised his hammer, lightning crackling across its surface. "So, I will fight you in their stead! I'll show you the true strength of an Asgardian warrior!"
Su Ye nodded slightly. "Alright, I get it. You want to prove the might of a true Asgardian warrior. So, by your logic, these three on the ground and this woman here aren't true warriors of Asgard. Did I understand that correctly?"
"I..." Thor faltered, his momentum wavering. "That's not what I meant."
Su Ye turned to Sif. "What do you think? He's basically saying you're not strong enough to be a real Asgardian warrior. Is that an honest assessment or just a slip of the tongue?"
Sif clenched her teeth and looked up. "We are true warriors of Asgard. But yes, we're not strong enough. So Thor isn't wrong."
Su Ye chuckled. "Defending him like that—do you have feelings for him? Maybe he's been manipulating you emotionally. Have you ever considered he's been PUA-ing you, and now you think everything he says is right?"
Sif shook her head fiercely. "Thor is a great hero, the war god of Asgard. Everyone admires him. It's only natural I do too!"
"And you," she continued, "are you stalling with all this nonsense? Waiting for backup? Let me tell you, it won't help. Once Thor wields Mjolnir, no one in the Nine Realms can stand against him!"
"Oh?" Su Ye pointed to the sky mockingly. "So, he's the strongest in the Nine Realms? What about his dad, Odin? If he's so much stronger than Odin, why did he get banished to Earth, stripped of his powers like a mortal?"
Sif glared. "One day, Thor will surpass the Allfather, Odin!"
"But not today," Su Ye shrugged, then leaned closer and whispered, "By the way, I've indeed been stalling. Thanks for cooperating."
Straightening up, Su Ye tossed aside the sword and pointed at the levitating Thor.
"You want to prove the strength of a true Asgardian warrior? Fine, I'll give you a chance. Come at me!"
Just then, a low voice echoed from a nearby rooftop.
"A God of Thunder from Asgard, challenging an unarmed Earthling? Even if you win, isn't it a hollow victory?"
At the sound of that voice, Black Widow's knees inexplicably wobbled.
Everyone turned to see a tall figure in black armor and a flowing cape emerge from the rooftop shadows.
"It's Batman!"
The SHIELD agents present, many of whom had dealt with the fallout from the Hammer Industries incident, recognized the vigilante immediately.
Seeing both Su Ye and Batman in action helped calm the nerves of the rattled agents.
"Thor of Asgard, is it? Today you'll learn that in the presence of the Martial Saint and Batman, not even Odin would have the upper hand!"
Su Ye, known as the Red Mask who once battled Abomination, wasn't a secret within SHIELD. The title "Martial Saint" had quietly become his superhero codename.
On the rooftop, Batman reached into his cloak and pulled out a round shield, tossing it to Su Ye.
"Here, use this for now."
The size of this round shield was similar to Captain America's, and its design wasn't too different either. However, its color scheme was entirely black, with a bat emblem carved into its surface. At the very center of the shield, a circular light was embedded.
A circular light embedded in the middle of a shield—this was a groundbreaking design, something no one had likely seen before.
And this groundbreaking… or rather, Bat Shield was exactly what Su Ye had been waiting for.
The Batman on the rooftop, of course, was one of Su Ye's shadow clones.
Unlike Naruto's original "Shadow Clone Jutsu," where each clone had its own consciousness and only transferred its experiences and fatigue back to the original upon dispersal, Su Ye's version was a modified system-enhanced technique.
His shadow clones could be entirely controlled by him, with fully shared consciousness. They could communicate telepathically over a certain distance.
There was no risk of clones rebelling or developing independent personalities.
Any concerns about "being betrayed by oneself" were unnecessary because the experiences and feelings of every clone were simply extensions of Su Ye himself.
This allowed Su Ye to efficiently direct the Batman clone to fetch the shield from the Batcave.
The shield wasn't designed just for aesthetics or illumination; the circular light embedded in it housed a miniature arc reactor, a flawless replica of Stark's design.
This shield wasn't merely for defense. It could serve as a bomb in critical moments, fire energy beams, and most importantly, absorb and redirect lightning, making it the perfect countermeasure against Thor.
Hence, the shield's rightful name was "Anti-Thor Bat Shield."
