In the year 2045, when humanity stands at the crossroads of civilization, a hidden war is being staged for the fate of species.
Luo Lin, who was born as a military doctor in the special forces, met Lin Yue, a biotechnology researcher with the special ability of "seeing life", while tracking down a series of bizarre biological mutation events. The encounter between the two uncovers a shocking secret that is enough to change the fate of mankind: the quantum consciousness technology and mysterious "evolution factor" across the globe are actually the testing ground of civilization laid by alien civilizations.
In this world where technology and mutation coexist, human society is divided into "transcendentals" who pursue digital immortality and "primitives" who aspire to genetic evolution. When the evolutionary factor spreads out of control, the quantum consciousness network is invaded by mysterious signals, and human civilization is in an unprecedented crisis. Luo Lin and Lin Yue must find a balance between maintaining humanity and transcending evolution, opening up a third path for humanity beyond the seemingly inevitable trajectory of fate.
This is a story of choice, a story of perseverance or change in the face of the unknown, and a story of love and hope that can transcend death and evolution. When the spark of civilization is blown by the wind of fate, where will we go?
As a reader who is used to reading late at night, the beginning of this novel firmly grabbed my attention. The story begins with an ordinary hospital routine diagnosis and treatment scene, but inadvertently introduces puzzling anomalies. The character of the main character, Dr. Rollin, is very three-dimensional, and he not only maintains his professional rationality as a doctor in the face of various events that exceed common sense, but also shows the confusion and fear of ordinary people, and this contradictory quality makes the character seem extraordinarily real. What particularly struck me was the description of the seven-story basement laboratory in Chapter 3. Through delicate brushstrokes, the author portrays the cold atmosphere and strange atmosphere to the core. When Luo Lin discovered Lin Yue's abnormal state, the sense of horror and powerlessness that came to his face made people sweat for the protagonist. Moreover, the author's description of future medical technology is quite professional. Although some of the settings, such as "Evolutionary Factor" and "Life Code", have a sci-fi overtone, they are not abrupt on the whole, but rather make people feel that these technologies may actually be realized in the near future. What attracted me the most was the forces hidden in the story. The Night Watchman, the Watchman, the military, each organization seems to have different demands for the "code of life". This intricate network of relationships, coupled with Lin Yue's secrets, makes people can't wait to find out. If there is a fly in the ointment, it may be that the explanation of certain concepts is not clear enough, such as the specific responsibilities and competence of the "observer". However, considering that this is only the beginning of the novel, I believe that these questions will be gradually answered in the following chapters. Overall, this is a fast-paced, cleverly conceived medical science fiction novel, and I look forward to more exciting content from the author in the following chapters.
