I woke up to the sound of loud, impatient banging on my door. For a brief, blissful moment, I considered pretending I was dead but I'm sure even a dead person would hear such outrageously loud noise! I shouldn't have locked my door last night. Argh!…
"Lyla!" Carla's shrill voice cut through my half-asleep haze. "Open the door! Now!"
Groaning, I dragged myself out of bed and stumbled to the door, yanking it open. Carla stood there, looking as flawless as always in a tailored skirt and blouse, her expression sharp and demanding.
"What?" I asked, blinking blearily while trying to figure out what could possible be the reason for such commotion.
"Don't 'what' me," she snapped, pushing past me into the room. "What's the update on the dinner with Sebastian?"
Dinner? Sebastian? My brain scrambled to catch up. Oh no. I'd completely forgotten about that!
[Shit! Shit! Shit!]
